I worked at my first job for a month and 2 weeks. The manager never paid us on time and I wasn't even being paid minimum wage. I called the ministry of labour and they sent me a bunch of documents in the mail to give to my employer as proof that she wasnt paying me the right amount of money. I left a note on my employers desk explaining why i am giving her these papers and how I felt ( i was being nice) and the next day she called me yelling at me that I no longer work there to bring back my uniform and pick up my cheque because she never wants to see me again. I was appaulled I called back them ministry of labour and said that she can not fire me for asking about my ESA rights. That they will do something about this. Then later on that day i got a phone call back from the ministry of labour and they told me that thier is not record of me ever working there. ?

I'd like to know some pointers that you wish you knew when you entered the job field. Do you consider it a job or a profession?

I'm 18 and in university... during the week i'm hella busy.. so im looking for a job that I can do on the weekends... here's my situation: I'm fairly well off (my parents bought me a house+ a car and they gave me like 2000$ cash)... but I want more to life, and I dont think 2000$ is going to last me long. I have no work experience so i'll basically take any job that pays me like 8$ or more. So..... how do i get a job, I dont know ANYBODY in this town (im new) do i just walk into a store and ask them for a job? Do I have to have a resume? How do i get paid?

Whatever money i make I plan to gamble @ high stakes poker... I played No limit hold em and made like 6 grand in less than a week, but i took a really bad swing and lost like 4000$ and The quickest way to rebuild a bankroll is to get a legitimate job. that's why i wanna work, I have nothing better to do anyways. The extra cash would help a lot.

Annual raises are due up soon at my company and the general raise is a 5% increase, how do i put it to my supervisor that i'd like a better raise than this I was thinking around 10-15% (really only a 25-50 cent bigger raise, but it's the principal of the thing), I've been an excelent employee and always advailable, i'm the guy everyone calls for help. I just don't want to come off as greedy but i don't want only a "cost of living" increase. Help me out!

they don't ever tell you the real reason why you weren't selected? I think that it's only fair. I mean they stress for you to tell the truth and be honest about your background and experience on the applications and in the interview and then when they don't select you they give you some generic excuse as to why. I mean, I think they should have to tell you, honestly, why they didn't select you because if it's something that you could work on, at least you would know that much.
