I'm in my last semester before getting a degree in mechanical engineering. The problem is, for about 3 years of the program, I've a had very little interest in the subjects being taught. Also, I've had a couple of co-op jobs in the industry which I did not really enjoy in terms of the kind of work involved. It has dawned on me that maybe this isn't the right career for me. I really enjoy programming however and would love to get paid to write code all day, rather than measuring the vibration levels of some old pumps.. I figure now, and not 10 years into a career I don't enjoy, is the time to switch to a different field. Do you think I should a) transfer as many courses from this degree to a degree in computer science at another university and then be a student for 2 or so more years, b) take a computer programming program at a career college, or c) go into mechanical engineering anyway? Thanks.

I have a job interview on the 2nd at an organic cosmetic and bath shop.

I know they have a number of other interviewees, and I probably don't have the most experience of the bunch. But I really want the job.

I was wondering how I could make myself more marketable? I've been familiarizing myself with their products and policies. And I've been using their products as well (well ok.. I do that anyway). What else should I be doing, besides the obvious (well of course I'll dress the part...)

Okay I saw al ot of personal questions out there so figured why not. I'm 22 and live in a town riddle with drugs and morons. I was a meth addict from approximately the ages of 15-17. I ended up becoming sober and getting my GED. I tried nursing at a community college and hated the program. Now I'm in a funk. Do I go back to school and try something else, it's a lot of money when I don't know what to do when I'm already in debt and broke. Or do I get a dead end job and face not being able to move for many years and staying in a place where everyone I know is burnt out. How do I get out of debt and out of this town? Desperately searching for insight and not bashing. Thanks.

Hi guys I want to know your opinion, I have been trying to call my ex-employer about my super(retirement money) that they supposed to pay me last year. And I am entitled to it. However everytime I asked they try to shush me away, eventhough I call everyday, (the daughter managing finance always find excuse). Its a serious offense in here if you fail to pay the super especially last financial year. I m getting tired of calling them. However I havent call the boss (I m not sure if he is aware of this or not), my dad has a business relation with the owner. Should I report them to the TAX office without talking to the boss first? I m so tired getting shush away since last year. And I m afraid to jeopardaze my dad's and the company business relationship, and I dont want to call them again, its sick being told later later, but they never calll me back,,,, thanks so much,, I m so confused...

You are the new bookkeeper in a small business. The bookkeeper whose job you are taking is training you on the business's manual system. As he journalizes, he writes the account number into the Post. Ref. column because he thinks it's easier. Then, when he posts, he won't have to be bothered writing the account numbers. How would you explain why he should resist the urge to write the account number in the Post. Ref. column immediately and should instead enter the account number after he has posted the amount to the ledger

If I wanted to be a therapist through a newspaper column or magazine, what would this profession be called exactly and how could I go about beginning this career? How many years of college would this require? Could I still have my own office like I've always dreamed about, what companies already offer jobs like this?

I am 56. I have retired twice already. That is to say I have two pensions. I am somewhat tired of working. I have no financial obligations.

I am successful at work, they want me to stay. I have committed to an additional year.

How do you know when to quit?

Am I being stupid or what?

I like helping people. I also love to do office type work and being organized and creative. What would be a good career for me? Is there anything I can do to decide what I want to do. I would hate to spend a lot of money for college and then not go into the subject I went to school for.

I haven't decided what I want to go to college for, when I was younger I wanted to be a pediatrician and then I decided I didn't want to have to face sick children; it would just break my heart. I got into photography and I started keeping journals so I thought I would like to study photography and journalism.. and at one point I thought I wanted to be a flight attendant bc I like to fly on airplanes but I was like no thanks.. and I want a job where I sit at a desk on a computer or something , I want to have my own office and I like to write and help people so now Im thinking therapist ? What careers do you think would be best for mee? I don't want to have to live in a major city to make a career. I want to go to college for something that won't require me to go to college in like LA, NY, or Philly. Any ideas??
