I worked as a secretary for a professor of pharmacy when I was in college. The students needed a lot of chemistry and math, and physical sciences more generally, and biochemistry specifically. A pharmacist is expected to understand how the chemicals work in the human body, including their interaction with one another, in order to advise his customers as to the risks of drug interactions, side effects, overdose, and so on. He also has to be pretty level-headed otherwise, as he will be responsible for keeping meticulous records, and being very firm about the laws protecting prescription drugs from use by people for whom they are not prescribed.

My impression of the pharmacy students I met was that they were people who might have gone to medical school, but found this adjunct profession somewhat less demanding.

Average GPA of accepted pharmacy students, nationally is about 3.4-3.5. The overall acceptance rate is less than 30%. You'll need a PCAT score above 75. The class is hard but not impossible to do.

You pretty much have to know as much as a doctor only you know more in that you know the ins and outs of medicines as well. You have to be very good in chemistry and you will have to get a doctorate degree.

You have to go to pharmacy school (college) and when you graduate, you have to take and pass a state licensing exam.
