Practice, practice, practice. Please practice your home row keys, and the finger reaching keys, so that you won't have to look at the keyboard when you type, Your memory and your fingers will then learn to automatically go to the correct keys, and your speed will increase greatly. When I took typing classes in business college, the teacher told us that by practicing your accuracy, the speed will automatically increase. Have fun! Take care.

There are programs available - like Mavis Beacon, or you can try the typing games on yahoo. I like Brainbench's typing test, they will tell you your speed and accuracy. Make a chart of where all of the letters/numbers/symbols are on the keyboard, and refer to that, Don't look at your hands! That way you'll know where the keys are (eventually!) Don't cheat, it's better to go slowly and learn by feel than it is to cheat . :)
