What kind of boss is this. I am recent college graduate and took a good job it regular 8-5 job. If i am one minute past 8 i am late. If I leave a 5 pm, I am leaving to early. Everyone else in the office has no fixed schedule, coming in at 8:03 is not an issue for them. The women is minortiy she has attitude issues, constantly obeserves and critices everthing I do even if i do nothing wrong. Recently found out she has driven others in my postion out of the office within a year. And I am fast approaching that. Other people think of her has a *****. My other boss only listens to what she says. I am a peon in the department. I tried to switch department but my second boss would recomend me cause the other boss doesnt like me. This person also is the workhorse of the office she does most of the work for my business unit. So there is no help there. Am I being micromanged? Driven out? What should I do? Go to graduate school?

I'm an Accessory Designer and working at a small company for 5 year right out of college. I have been trying to find a job with corporate company but every time not success. Most of the time from all HR said my experience is not with big corporate. With my 5+ years experience I would of be senior designer at some corporate if I were working at a well known company. I feel trapped. I recently had phone interview with a well-known company that I love. However, I was interviewing for designer position but they want me for assistance designer and that only offer half of what I'm making now. I know it would be a good move for career but bad for $$$. Any idea? What should I do? Please help.

I am being trained for new position in banking and want to know if I should just shut up and let my trainer do her thing. I don't want to come off stupid or anything but I don't want to looks as if I don't need her help. For anyone who has been in my situation, please share your thoughts.

When you are trying to teach someone a new skill, do you want him or her to catch on quickly or would you like that person to sit quietly and listen to what you have to say? In other words, let you show me how knowledgeable you are in such area.

Again, please share your thoughts.

How should one behave in training?

I think this girl I work with is trying to get me fired. I am higher on the "totom pole" than her but she is about 20 years older than me and I think this bothers her. She is constantly kissing my bosses a** and if I so much as look at her wrong shes running to him and the rest of my co workers and exagerating majorly about what happened and I end up looking bad. No matter how hard I try to be nice to her it just doesn't work out. I am to my wits end with her. What should I do?

I'm thinking of relocating from Michigan, that way I won't have to turn out the lights. It seems like a wonderful place, but any suggestions are welcome.

I work in a small office in NJ where there is a no smoking indoors law. It's just me - a nonsmoker, my boss - a smoker, and another guy - a smoker. The problem is the two smokers don't care about the law. I told them the smoke really bothers me and I would like if they go outside to smoke, their version of going out is standing by the door, with the door cracked. What's really bad is that right by the door there is a vent that sucks in air for the heating and cooling system, so if they are smoking the smoke gets sucked in and recirculates, making the office smell for hours. But they say they do not smell anything. Also, if I am not in the office they smoke in there and when I come in there are ashes everywhere and it smells bad. When I bring this up to them they say that they don't smoke around me, or when I am in the office.

I am affraid if I report this and the business gets fined they will know that it was me who reported them and I will risk losing my job. What should i do?

I posted my resume on Craigslist, but someone sent me an email telling me that she saw my resume on Craigslist and telling me about a site that earns extra money. I know that she isn't an employer /recruiter or else she wouldn't be giving me the information. So, why did she read it?

I'm wondering if anyone knows if a potential employer could check to see if you really completed High School. Or, do they just take your word for it on your application?
