What kind of boss is this. I am recent college graduate and took a good job it regular 8-5 job. If i am one minute past 8 i am late. If I leave a 5 pm, I am leaving to early. Everyone else in the office has no fixed schedule, coming in at 8:03 is not an issue for them. The women is minortiy she has attitude issues, constantly obeserves and critices everthing I do even if i do nothing wrong. Recently found out she has driven others in my postion out of the office within a year. And I am fast approaching that. Other people think of her has a *****. My other boss only listens to what she says. I am a peon in the department. I tried to switch department but my second boss would recomend me cause the other boss doesnt like me. This person also is the workhorse of the office she does most of the work for my business unit. So there is no help there. Am I being micromanged? Driven out? What should I do? Go to graduate school?

I would document her behavior via email to her (professionally). Something about how you feel being singled out and you would like to schedule a meeting with her.....Make sure to document everything... If it persists.. contact HR... Or is Human Resources on her side too? If this is the case... sometimes legal actions... or not worth your time?? Just find another job... If this has happened numerous times to other people... there is a reason.. and no one has done anythign about it... I say why waste your time at this company....

I will give you some advice here. Always be at work 15 min. early and leave 5 minutes after. Give her nothing to use against you. She may be threatened or just feel powerful by doing all that. Bottom line, don't let her know you want to leave. Be nice to her, DON"T GIVE HER A REASON TO DO PAPERWORK on you. Do this for a while. If you have no documented bad paperwork, and she keeps it up, follow your company's grievance procedures. But, wait til you have been without fault there for a while and see if she comes around. I have been both surpervisor and supervised, so I can see what you are going through.
Also, a possibility is to ask her about it. She may be so demanding because of past experience with new college grads., or she just expects alot out of you being entry level and is just expecting you to come up to her standards. Either way, if you come up to her damanding standards and survive, think how you will shine with less demanding bosses in the future.
If she is doing most of the work, tell her you want to help her when you can and let her know she can count on you.

PS- If she is a problem and just likes to get rid of people, don't let her beat you. You obviously earned the job and made the cut. Don't let others take it away. Basically, do more than you have too.

It doesn't matter what she is. They like her and she is in the winning position - especially if she is a workhorse and producer as you say. It's clear she has issues with you and it sounds like you may have issues with other supervisors or managers as well. Don't worry about what other people do, follow her direction exactly - be there at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Assess your job performance honestly and ask yourself why they don't like you. Try and improve that performance. And if this job is not for you, start looking for another one.

You are being micromanaged. Don't be late, don't leave early. Do your job and she will start to trust you and lay off.
