I saw an opening at restaraunt. I need some income to support my nondenominational ministry and self. Am 50 and since cannot get job teaching, need something. This seemed like a job I could do. It is just a regular small town restaraunt--not a chain. I would want to work part-time, so as not to keep from church activities.

All jobs have their requirements and most important items, and so I wondered about this. Wonder what would be expected.

Over twenty five years ago worked at a college dining hall. But it was not like real work. It was a private college, tiny income, more workers than needed--so the employers handled us very, very nicely.

Any thoughts, ideas, recommendations tremendously appreciated.

I am about to graduate with a BFA in graphic design. I have learned a lot of skills and feel I have a lot to offer. The problem is, there are no job opportunities whatsoever where I live. I mean really nothing, literally. I am feeling at my wits end and am not prepared to move for the next couple of years. I feel like kicking myself for majoring in something so useless. What should I do? Go back to school for something else? Tough it out and get a service job? Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do? Sallie Mae is going to come find me in about 6 months and start taking fingers and toes!!!!

My brother is a time served toolmaker but when he applies for a job people only want a tradesman with experience, however the company that he served his apprenticeship with went into liquidation due to accountancy errors and he pretty much finished his apprenticeship and then had nowhere to work. how is it possible for him to get back into his profession when no-one will give him a chance? is there anyone out there who can give him a job or put him in touch with a company who requires a time served toolmaker?

she hired me on, but then after one day of working I realized she had lied to me about the work. she told me that i would be warm calling instead it's cold calling and telling them that they had filled out information to get the call when they didn't. there r quotas that she has to get in order for her clients to be happy. i didn't get any appointments set for today and she became annoyed with me. she is now accusing of being too professional on the phone. she ended up telling me this in front of another co worker who is a horrible gossip & nosey. she also said i sounded "choppy on the phone". i called her bk to let her know that i was upset that she critiqued me in front of someone else. she then told me that she hears me getting annoyed with customers when they cut me off. this is not at all the case since I remain professional as she says and told me that i did extremely well my first week. how should i deal with her when she says one thing and then another which aren't true?

I work for Lennar Homes in Orlando. I'm the receptionist for the land division. I don't realy have any qualifications....except that I was a reliable hard worker in the grocery stores I previously worked in. They took a chance on me! But I love my job.

I gave a notice at my job because I had been working there 11 months and requested an evaluation and a raise. (hadn't had either even though the policy says an evaluation after 6 mo) I am a good employee, do what I am supposed to, show up on time etc. My boss copped out and said that they give bonuses but not really rasies. That among other things added up which made me decide to take a job I was offered, and I gave a full two week notice plus a few days. A an ad was placed in the paper for my replacment which was a dollar more an hour than I was making and said experience a plus but not a must. They were willing to hire someone without exp for more than they were willing to pay me. Am I being over sensitive saying my boss is a butt hole?

I did some work with a non-profit foundation and one of their employees embezzeled money, so people who had not yet deposited their paychecks for the weekend of work were told to hold their paycheck. It has been three months, and recently when I asked about cashing it, I was told to please keep holding it, and then she offered me some frequent flyer miles. (I am planning on using this check for a flight) So...should, and can I take the frequent flier miles and the paycheck, or just deposit it and act like I never got the answer?? Is this legal to hold someone's money when they rightfully signed and worked for the pay?
