if its against the law to ask to do work for some one with out having a contractors licence and to do the work , what if you just want to make some money on the side. would the government rather see a person on wellfare, and food stamps, than a person working like this, how about the people what do you think. just work ,are use the wellfare system. i am not talking about running a full flege bizness i am just talking about making money on the side to pay for dental work, and doctor bills, and stuff like that. i have the skills to do good work but i am afraid of the laws, because i am unsure of them. DO YOU THINK I WILL GET IN TROUBLE BY THE GOVERNMENT IF I START DOING WORK TO HELP PAY FOR MY DENTAL WORK AND OTHER IMPORTAND THINGS OR SOULD I JUST GO WITH OUT ?

I'm currently a freshman at Texas State and thinking about transferring to Texas Tech in the fall. I've heard there are more job oppurtunities with an accounting degree from Tech than if I stayed at Texas State. Is this true?

well.. she does not know that I have an issue with her. I started as a contractor a month BEFORE she did and she just became permenent because she sort of pushed to become permanent after an apparent job offer from another company. I am currently in the process of becoming permananet even though I think that I should have became pemanent before her.
Anyways....I feel like that I cant trust her with anything and I try to keep my distance from her, yet keep a close watch on her...I feel a little intimidated by her...like she is after my job or something...
I dont know why I feel this way...I just dont like her...in fact I have felt this way ever since I first saw her. I am nice to her and give her respect...we even did lunch together with two other co- workers. But deep down I really dont care for her and I want to watch her closely...I dont want her to have my job. she cant have my job.
What do you think this is and what do you think I should do?

During a preliminary phone interview I gave the interviewer my salary requirement, which she agreed to. Now I am scheduled for an interview today and I realize that I low-balled myself on the salary.

I am a recent college grad and I sort of forgot that I can ask for more money now.

Would it be rude to raise my requirement during the interview?

My office mate chronically takes off work for some the stupidest things (once her 16 year old daughter called crying because she got into an argument with a classmate at school-and she left to go get her). Anyway I'm left at work doing my job and hers in a busy office. One day my boss called me into his office to say I'm taking the job too seriously and need to chill that we all have to out sometimes. More or less he gave me the go ahead to leave some too. Anyway, I've always prided myself for having good work attendance and I feel stupid saying I need off for trivial things. But I've got to fight fire with fire, so here goes. All I've come up with is I have to go let the exterminator in at home. I'm also very superstitious about saying it's sickness or car trouble or something major that could really happen if I say it. Can anyone help? I should add I've only been here a year. She's been here 10 years.

I can go on another shift and make more per hour, work less and it equal the same amount as what I net now working more hours. The problem? On this new shift, I will not be able to see my family during the week. And the job is about 15 to 20 minutes further away. Right now I carpool with another. I get to save on gas. And work is only 40 minutes away. If I go to this other shift, I drive alone. And work will be nearly an hour away. I am just not sure it is worth it. What do you all think?

Okay so I graduated from college in 2005 with a degree in HIGH DEMAND, but upon graduation the market was kinda slow

I took my first job because I REALLY needed the money and it didnt turn out so well, I quit after 3 months

I found another job with a bit more responsibilty and training but I quit there after 10 months because there was no growth potential

I am in my current job now for 6 months and I am very happy with what I do, the environment, growth potential etc but I am not getting paid what I deserve. I know everyone says this but seriously when you are the head of a whole dept in a company you should be making MORE than 30K a year in the North East!!!!

Anyway I am receieving emails from head hunters left and right about jobs paying TWICE as much as I make now doing the EXACT same thing, I just dont know what to do.

I want to take on the other jobs but I dont want to mess up my already shaky resume

I would like to sit on my butt in front of my computer and work. That way I can watch my kids and do what I need to do and work at my own leisure. I can not afford to do daycare and work it makes no sense to work then because daycare is so expensive. All the work from home things that I have found are a way to get spam and that is about it. I don't trust, nor do I think you should have to put any money out upfront for anything. That is dumb sounding. Sounds like me paying someone else to work from home if I pay any money. Free only work at home programs please that someone has actually used.

As an employer in Texas, do I have to return calls about employment verification for employees to such places as a check cashing company? I don't want to give out information to just anyone about employees.

There are a couple of girls that just hate my guts and I have no idea why! I am a very patient person, but they are seriously irritating me, they are so rude they call me a ****, whore, and skank everytime I pass them! It's gotten to the point where they marked on my locker where I keep all of my stuff, it's really elementary. I don't think my boss really likes me either. I would tell her that I am seriously uncomfortable around them but I know she won't listen. I am thinking about quiting my job and just let those snobs have their way.
On top of that I'm sort of stressed cause I just made a huge move....does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to make them stop or should I just quit and find another job?

I would like to move to Raleigh, NC in the very near future, but I have to have a job first. Does anyone have any information on family oriented companies that allow flex time or are understanding to single parents? I work for a very understanding company now and I can’t imagine having anything different. Also, if you have information on Federal Gov’t jobs for the area it would be well appreciated.

Thank you in advance everyone.

we have a boss who tries to control every action of our work, treats us like children in kindergarten, and eats, breathes and sleeps this job. We thought when she got married, she would have a life, but that did not happen. She is almost 50 and did not get married until a couple of years ago. She is trying to turn us all into "stepford workers".
She thinks we all should do our work alike, even though we all have our system to do our work. She wants to tell us all how to do our jobs, but does not want to give any assistance. We do social work with the public. She had to interview a client due to a worker being out and could not finish the interview. She came to me and asked me would I finish. Do you know why she could not finish it? She broke her fingernail!!! She dresses like a prima donna and doesn't think she is supposed to do manual labor. We have been to her boss but because she is management, it is ignored. HELP!!!!

Hello there people! I have to make a choice and I need your advice.
I'm currently 25 years old. I only hold a associate diploma in general education from a community college in California. my past work experience have been worked here there short term jobs:
- 3 months as a waiter in a restaurant
- 6 months as a teller in post office.
- 6 months as a activity coordinator in YMCA daycare center.

I got accepted an offer in University of Sydney(i live in australia) to do a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree for 4 years. It is something similar to a Bach of Science/Arts combined course but the difference is it teaches analytical skills as well(you can google it online). It can be used as a "precourse" for students waiting to move onto medical/ law school postgraduate degree later, if they wish.
According to my age, and the work exp and merits do you think i should take up this offer or go find a job instead?
