I have an issue with a co- worker?

well.. she does not know that I have an issue with her. I started as a contractor a month BEFORE she did and she just became permenent because she sort of pushed to become permanent after an apparent job offer from another company. I am currently in the process of becoming permananet even though I think that I should have became pemanent before her.
Anyways....I feel like that I cant trust her with anything and I try to keep my distance from her, yet keep a close watch on her...I feel a little intimidated by her...like she is after my job or something...
I dont know why I feel this way...I just dont like her...in fact I have felt this way ever since I first saw her. I am nice to her and give her respect...we even did lunch together with two other co- workers. But deep down I really dont care for her and I want to watch her closely...I dont want her to have my job. she cant have my job.
What do you think this is and what do you think I should do?

I think you are being a little on the edge over nothing. You don't know the whole story behind why she got placed permanent before you, but it sounds like the company likes you and they are going to place you permanent as well.
I doubt she is after your job...she has her own job. I think the problem is that she is more confident in herself than you are in yourself. Employers recognize that, and reward for initiative and confidence.
Do your job to the best of your ability, and make your boss aware of the job your doing, It sounds like that is all she is doing.

Hmm...maybe she feels the same way about you. If you have two people working at the same company doing the same job there will always be a little competition. Its like that in almost every work environment. I work with a woman who has been here longer than I have and I know I do a better job than she does. I know this because I got a promotion and a raise while only working here for 2 years. She has been here for 7 years. She always gives me a look when she walks by like.."who do you think you are?" kind of look. As long as you feel like you are doing your job well, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about it. Oh and you must not let her see that you feel intimidated. That will just add unnecessary fuel to the fire.
