They are looking for an upstanding citizen with no criminal record or recorded history of unlawful behavior. I don't know if it includes a credit check - i would think you could ask them at the time of the interview what that includes.

For a retail job, they basically are looking for drug or theft felony convictions. Yes your former employment is important, but they can not share much more than YES, she was employed here and NO we would not hire her again.
If you have no convictions you should be fine, if you were convicted of something else that was not nessesarily criminal in nature but rather technical they may not even care.
