During a preliminary phone interview I gave the interviewer my salary requirement, which she agreed to. Now I am scheduled for an interview today and I realize that I low-balled myself on the salary.

I am a recent college grad and I sort of forgot that I can ask for more money now.

Would it be rude to raise my requirement during the interview?

I just wanted to add that they are very desperate and need to hire someone quickly. They have only one office on the West coast and they have come all the way from Virginia looking for someone to run the new office. They have had a high turnover rate due to hiring unqualified people, but I know this work like the back of my hand and they know that from my experience.

You can do whatever you want as long as you do it tactfully. If they value you they will pay the market value for that position and level of experience. If money is their priority then they're probably not worth working for. Negotiate and see what happens. Lesson learned for the next time.

You probably should wait till after the interview is over, and they call you to say they want to offer you the position. If they like you during the interview and make their mind up to hire you, they are more likely to comply with your request. You can say something like you are considering another position which is offering more. Be specific about your minimum requirement though. Don't be vague. If they say no, you can always reject the offer and look for something else. Remember not to sound too greedy though.

No. Since they have the first number written down already, it would lower your chances on getting the job.
