if its against the law to ask to do work for some one with out having a contractors licence and to do the work , what if you just want to make some money on the side. would the government rather see a person on wellfare, and food stamps, than a person working like this, how about the people what do you think. just work ,are use the wellfare system. i am not talking about running a full flege bizness i am just talking about making money on the side to pay for dental work, and doctor bills, and stuff like that. i have the skills to do good work but i am afraid of the laws, because i am unsure of them. DO YOU THINK I WILL GET IN TROUBLE BY THE GOVERNMENT IF I START DOING WORK TO HELP PAY FOR MY DENTAL WORK AND OTHER IMPORTAND THINGS OR SOULD I JUST GO WITH OUT ?

they will be fine with it if you send them a cut notice the part where it says other income on your taxes. Even if its just something on the side it can be considered a business keep record and be honest then no problems. Also if you take a loss (someone doesn't pay or something) you can claim it as a capital loss. my husband had a business that failed and we ended up getting a lot of tax money back because of it. Many people don't realize this and try to do stuff on the side and in the end get less than what they could have when things go belly up or if they have a bad year.

Well if no one knows or tells about it, then you won't get in trouble. The government wants it's share. If you're on welfare, they at least know of you. Of course, you could barter, that's legal. Exchanging your services for someone else's. I knew a lady who gave her dentist's daughter piano lessons in return for free dental work. Even bartering , as far as I know, should be reported on your income tax. It's really all up to you. If you feel better to go the legal way, then do that. There is also a minimum amount you can make without having to claim it. I think it's somewhere in the range of 600 dollars per year. You might want to ask an accountant about that.

Well what is it exactly that you are trying to do? alot of people have jobs on the side that they do not report to the government and im sure there is o harm in that. I am a student and I cleaning houses.apartments on the side and its great money. I just post ads on craigslist.org or backpage.com. There are all sorts of people on there offering different service but if what you are doing is illegal I would ask someone else like an attorney or something. But if it is like, Household (electrician, drywall, plumbing, lawn services), computer tech, or just any kinds of laor I dont think there is anything wrong with that

if you don't work, you don't pay nothing and you don't have nothing.
and ,know what?y hope you to pay 1 million $ taxes this year.
Al Capone was a criminal, but was judged because taxes.
the law has two sides, 1 that protest you,and 1 that protect others
from you. and from where do you think the government can pay food stamps and welfare? FROM TAXES, SO be god with yourself, work, earn money, and pay taxes. may be some day you will be in need, and if nobody pay, from where do you will get help?

Its not against the law to do odd jobs without a contractors license, depending on what you are actually doing.

it IS against the law to make any money like this and not report it to the IRS. You can get seriously fined and even go to prison for it.

No I don't think you will get in to trouble. It would be different if you started up your own business but your more or less just doing "odd jobs". There's a big difference. When and IF you advertise make sure you don't stat that you have a business. Good Luck

The trouble is that there are too many people who cheat the welfare system by working "under the table".
