I'm a freshman in college, and I absolutely DESPISE the place I work at now because they give me too many hours when I told them sooo many times that I can only work no more than 16-18 hrs. per week because of the workload of homework that I get. They don't listen to me, so now I need help finding something else that's simple, part-time, weekdays ONLY, and no more than 16 hours per week. It hurts how they don't respect my availability, so now I have to find something better for me. I live in the San Jose area, so if anybody has any ideas of what type of simple, easy, college-student jobs I can apply to, i would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I know that a credit report is typically part of a much larger document referred to as a "Consumer File", but what would one typically find in a "Consumer File"? I've never looked at mine, but potential employers always seem to want me to allow them to look at it.

If they call to set up a job interview with you, isn't okay to set it up for the same day? Like, "I can come in later today." Or do you schedule it for the next day?

Also, if they call you on Friday, do you schedule it for the same day or wait until Monday? Thanks.

its much more convenient to travel on trains and taxis then driving a car yourself a couple of hours to get to a meeting with a client. and you are wasting time that could be spent on working on train.

if this is money, my estimation says there is little difference in costs for both approches....so ?

I worked in a customer service job for a month. I loved answering questions and helping people, and listening to their concerns.
However, it wasn't the job for me. It also dealt with sales. I'm not a salesperson--I'm not aggressive/persistent enough.
I felt the products were not legitimate--they were for weight loss, "male enhancement," and memory loss/depression.
My supervisor told me when she let me go I wasn't meeting the minimum requirements for convincing people to keep the products, but if I wanted a reference, she'd be happy to give me one. This makes me think she liked me as a person, but felt I wasn't cut out for the job.
My question is, how do I explain the situation to prospective employers without sounding negative? I hated the rude people who treated me like crap. If I'd known the job would be in sales, I would never have taken the position.
Also, what are my chances of being hired by someone else? Will they understand I wasn't cut out for that? Thanks!

My ultimate business goal is to become CEO of a Fortune 500 company. To this date I have been in the military (discipline, character and integrity), earned an AA (business 3.67 GPA), BBA Accounting (3.83 GPA), I am currently getting my MBA (4.0 so far) and plan on testing for the CPA shortly after I am done. I thought this would atleast put me on the path. I understand these people are great at what they do, highly educated and motivated, but does luck have alot to do with it also? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

My supv. has advised me that I need not gossip (I dont gossip - not productive) and to get along with the other depts. (Have had no issues with other dept) Since I have been here she has done nothing but gossip about other employees. "So do as I say not as I do." I have spoken to other mgr at other dept and was advised to take to head of company - should I? I expect backlash from my supv. she does not like to be told she is doing something wrong. She loves to micro manage. Dont want to quit need the job, but I love what I do.
