The company I work for will hire one new person every 2 months or so and let them go before they have enough hours to make them eligible for unemployment? I live in Oregon, does anyone know if there is anything legally I can do to get them to stop doing this?

The 2 girls in my office ignore me and the one who is teaching me how things are done there is so disrespectful. I always smile and try to make small talk and they just roll their eyes. No one talks to me,but they laugh among themselves. And that's cool but I don't know if I should be my friendly outgoing self or act snobby like they do.It's been 1 week. how do I handle this situation?

I'm 15 and I have no money. I need to
1) buy an iPhone
2) buy a car
3) save for college
4) have spending money
5) pay for retreats, class ring, exam fees, and tickets for dances games etc.

I need a job to get money. To get to a job I'll need a car, for which I need money, which I don't have. My parents won't drive me to a job, won't give me money, and even pitch in on helping me buy a car. I have a little money in the bank but nowhere near enough to go on.
Is there anyplace I can get a job? Creative ideas? Something I'm not seeing? Anything would help!!

OK, i am a young 30, meaning i am single and have no children as of yet, and i have a DREAM job, Surveillance Supervisor, it pays good for where i am in my life.
now here is my question, if i tried school for nursing, and didn't like it, and dropped out, then i tried school for computer programming, but didn't like that either, and i dropped out, (i did good on grades but i didn't like them) should i try school again, perhaps something in management or business? i am also intrested in realestate,

i am at a cross road at this time, but i am not willing to just stay where i am, i could move up in the gaming industry or change altogether, i am sorta stuck in a rut,
school
or work
or....not sure

lets see I will ask this again it seems that im not ranting im asking whats the deal with equal employment opprtunity it doesn't exist anymore so what should i do if theres no fairness in the dept who deals with these issues or whats my options cause I pretty much have run out of options on dealing with crazy bosses and i mean literally crazy. to think that they can fire you for any reason is not justifible theres has to be laws against what they do. On my job where i used to work they sexually abuse lady checkers all the time one of them went to human resources dept nothing was done it seems that my company doesnt' take this thing very seriously(GELSON'S MARKET) or maybe that they think they can get away with this. The people who run this company don't care men in charge where i used to work are pigs an think they are always correct ; unfortunatly they got rid of me and fired me for standing up for a lady who was sexually abused whats wrong with this picture? equal employment?

Hello,

This is a bit complicated but let's see if anyone can give me an answer for this!

I'm currently employed part time at 20 hours a week, and it's written in my contract that I receive payment in lieu on a monthly basis. The company currently has a 2 week cut off date, so currently they pay you for the 2 weeks you work per month, plus the 2 weeks they expect you to work (notice period is also 2 weeks) monthly. We've all just been told that in february the company will only pay ONE weeks wage and withhold three weeks pay so that the company can change to a new "clocking in / out system, where we're payed monthly for the full 4 weeks we've worked". However, this 3 weeks pay is going to be withheld until further notice and not given to us in our March pay. Therefore, I'll be working for 3 weeks for absolutely nothing.

Does this count as an unlawful wage deduction or breach of contract? I have not been notified of any change of wage payment in writing.

Thanks!

I am set to go on a childcare couse next week, its level 1 and 2 hours every week for 10 weeks.I do know once i have done this there is longer courses and level 2s out there in september onwards.I have just been wondering though is there not any nurseries out there that offer in house training provinding the police check goes ok which i know damn well it will.My cousin a few years ago had no qualifications and was working to nvq in a nursery untill she realised it was not her ideal job but didnt need anything to get the job although i know things have changed..I have previously worked with eldery nursing/residential,not sure if this could help me in anway plus i have 2 young children, one which should be going full time school by september.I am desperate for this sort of career but although willing to go to college would prefer in job training where i can earn a little cash at the same time to help towards childrens nursery fees.I live in leeds,uk.Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

has a job in sales in which he makes $500 dollars every two weeks. I asked for the phone number for his job. I want his job however I'm afraid greed will come into play. I have a job in which I make less than $200 every two weeks. I don't want to become greedy, the sin will probably just make me feel guilty. What do you think?

I worked with a contractor to complete a large lanscaping job last year with lots of retaining walls. Several months after the orig job was finished I hired him to do another small job. I made the mistake on the small job of agreeing verbally on price. When I got his bill I called him a few times to discuss, but received no call back. I have not paid him yet. Now I am having a minor problem with a wall from the original big job. I know I owe him for the small job but am unwilling to pay what he thinks I owe him and I can't get him on the phone to discuss. I tried sending a letter and fax but have gotten no reponse except for a past due bill. What should I do? I would like to pay him but I need the other prob fixed first.

I work as a Division Manager of a well know and large corporation with 12 people in my direct group. My wife is absolutely opposed that I work past 5pm. Everyone one else in my group works until between 5pm - 6pm). How can I expect to show an example to my group when my wife is insisting that I do NOT work past 5pm. She also says she wants me to leave on time (at 5pm) every time, consistently. I proposed a "window" of 5-5:30 and she angrily insists that it be exactly 5pm every day...Is it too unreasonable to expect that I can have a range of 30min or is she right that "...the rest of the working World leave work on time..." What should I do?

I am a 35 year-old college-educated professional who is interested in changing careers after spending 13 years in sales and sales management. I recently left a lucrative position in sales management because I was being forced to relocate out of California and I didn't want to relocate.

The problem I have is that I don't know what to do next and am not sure how I should go about exploring opportunities. I'd like to hear stories of how other people have "started over" again in different careers after working many years in one field. How did you find the 2nd career? How did you make the transistion? What advice would you give me?

First of all I worked for a small company of about 50 plus employess.Well I had to take time off of work for my daughter who had brain surgery. I was gone three weeks, and was told that I had no worries my job was safe. When I got back to work, I had lost my position and was told that I am a floater now and that they will keep me working as long as they could. (In the mean time they hire 3 part time employees and 2 employees from a Temp agency). When I questioned why we had the temps doing work that I was capable of doing, I was told that I lost my seniority ( I had worked there 1 year 6 months) since I took time off for my daughter. I was also told that they would have let me go sooner, but the partner in the company did think that was right. Any way the answer to my questions as to why they are keeping the temps was that I made a commitment to them, but your are a great employee, a hard worker and we really like you, but we dont have enough work to keep you busy.
Is this legal?

I'm having a career crisis. I have add - the kind that makes organizing and getting strarted extremely difficult and also involves careless/sloppy mistakes. I've been a project manager for 15 year, PMI certified - but I don't enjoy it much - esp the planning and detail tracking. I'm intelligent, I like technology - not exactly a nerd - but not far from it. I love helping people and working with children - I'm good at detecting patterns and solving problems. In addition to the ADD related issues I'm a conflict avoided. I did the 'discover your strengths' thing - but it doesn't offer much in the way of practical advice on how to leverage my talents.
