If you're in Michigan...this is a no brainer. Get him the guy version of flowers...beer. I'm serious. A dozen roses is equivalent to a twelve pack of longnecks of a good microbrew, which I understand you have lots of in Michigan. I know this is common practice among me and most of my friends. When you ask a guy to come by and give you a hand with something....maybe helping you fix a vehicle or some type of fix-up job that he has special skills for, you buy the guy a twelver of expensive beer or a case of Bud, Miller, etc. Just like you might bring a nice bottle of wine if a woman asks you to her place for dinner. Oh well, thats what we do...

When I do that for my coworkers, some don't give me anything, some give a gift card to a local store, one lady brings me food (which I like best...I've never met a tech yet who didn't like to eat).
When a guy fixes a computer for free, he usually is not expecting anything in return so almost anything would be appreciated.

Hey Jamie, I had a friend do the same thing for me...minus the virus...but i got him a giftcard to a nice restaurant.Food always works.Just give him enough for him and his wife to have a good meal. :)
