I live in an employment at will state which makes it hard to find some state authority to go to to see if there is anything that can be done regarding retaliation. I transferred to get away from this boss, there was a demotion and now that person is my boss once again. Just the sight of this person gets me all worked up. I too had to take drugs to keep me calm and my doctor advised me to quit. Just this past week I had a breakdown and complained to our head H/R department, to no avail, they told my boss and I was called to the carpet. What can be done to prevent this in the future and can something be done (as in personally) to this person?

Virtually everyone in this world gets paid only for the work they do, they cant simply do a task and then continue to be paid for that task without doing more work. If someone designs a car they get a flat fee, they dont get a percentage of every car sold, they have to keep working in order to make money just like everyone else. A musician however spends a few months in a recording studio and rather than get a fee for that time plus all the time it took to write the music they get a percentage, so that they continue to earn a living without working, in some cases they may be dead and still earning money. NO one else on the CD is paid like this, so why should they be any different?

My main concern now is Christianity, not history. I know a good Christian man, whom I co-pastored under, but became ill. During his illness a bad clique worked against him, actually trying and almost taking control of the church from him.

Fortunately, they are gone now, and we can re-start the church. We have a prospective building, praise the Lord, with low rent. I just need some income to assure us of getting through. I was wondering what menial work readers might suggest for a man of 50, lacking in computer skills or mechanical ability. It would be part-time. Fast foods, which I mentioned in an earlier posting, is a consideration, as well as possibly Wal Mart.

I still have other liabilities, fear of registers, and could not work until after l p.m. on Sun.

Suggestions, particularly from people who have worked in fast food places and Wal Mart, would especially be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Glen

At first I was afraid the job might be boring, but now that I'm a couple years older I'm wondering if it really is so bad, aside from being a high-salary job in the civvy world.

The original reason I wanted to become a manager was because I'd worked at companies where if you weren't a manager, you were treated like a piece of ****. I wanted respect, and saw being a manager as a way of getting it.

Now I work at a company where you don't have to have that position to get respect. You can still make more money as a manager, but I'm not really that greedy.

So, a pillar of my motivation is toppled. I was set to go out and get an MBA, even though I'm more right-brained, because I saw it as a necessary means to an end. If I step back and just focus on my true interests, is that better, or should I go ahead with the MBA/management track stuff? Because I could always end up working at a different company, where respect for all employees isn't the case.
