I live in an employment at will state which makes it hard to find some state authority to go to to see if there is anything that can be done regarding retaliation. I transferred to get away from this boss, there was a demotion and now that person is my boss once again. Just the sight of this person gets me all worked up. I too had to take drugs to keep me calm and my doctor advised me to quit. Just this past week I had a breakdown and complained to our head H/R department, to no avail, they told my boss and I was called to the carpet. What can be done to prevent this in the future and can something be done (as in personally) to this person?

First of all, why not quit?
Secondly, if there is any harassment, why not hire a lawyer and ask him to deal with those issues.
Thirdly, if you have mental health problems, then why not seek a mental health lawyer who will address issues from that point to view.
Or, you could change your attitude and mindset and working style and your way of dealing with people - that way your boss cannot harass you.

Your Doctor advised you to quit so why are still there? Your health is more important than a stupid job with a jerk boss.

Kick his butt! Okay, okay, maybe not, but get out! Start looking for a new job ASAP. Why would you want to STAY there?
