I love what I do and the location, etc, but every single person I work w/is a huge gossip. Everyday someone hates someone new for whatever reason and it's driving me nuts. I try to get along with everyone and I keep my mouth shut when it comes to personal opinions and my coworkers but since I don't say anything everyone comes to talk to me about their problems with each other. I usually respond by saying something like, "I can't talk right now, I have a call on hold." or by suggesting that they speak directly to the person they have a problem with. But it's getting out of hand. Sometimes they just ignore me and keep talking anyway.

What should I do about this? Sometimes the problems are petty and not even work related.

I don't want to approach management bc this is very petty and we're supposed to be adults. What's a good way to resolve this on my own without stepping on any toes? (or at least so people leave me out of it)

I'm still in high school, and I'm using one of my teacher as my reference. When I put her in my application form, do I put:
Ms. hername? or
Firstname lastname?
does it matter? (I don't know her first name though...)

does that limit you to word of mouth and advertised positions where you can send out your resume?

What about cold calls? How do I make them as discreet as possible? Call during break time?

Any more tips? Thanks.

I just got offered a job as an Account Executive for a good international company, I was scheduled to start on 11/27. However, I went to take my fingerprinting test on Friday afternoon. The receptionist that was supposed to mail off my test sent it to the wrong place.

So today, I had to go back, drive 30-35 min and do my fingerprinting test take it to the job(another 25 min), afterwards I went to get my hubby from work, they called and told me nobody signed the fingerprinting test, so my hubby and I had to drive all the way back to the job and pick up the fingerprinting test and get it signed. So I told the receptionist to call the fingerprinting dept to see if it was open...

It had closed early for the day.

My start date was pushed back to Dec. 4!

My hubby and I are flat broke and he doesn't get paid to the 30th, should I look for a job, but it still wouldn't do any good cuz everyone's on vacation...but what do you think?????????????????

I have had 2 interviews with 2 different companies ...one for a part-time evening job in a car sales place and the other for a full-time job paying $40-50,000 and each time they say "we will definitely call you in a day or two and they don't". I guess they think about things I say and hire someone else. Most of the jobs I have had in the past , I just get the job because they like me instantly . The formal questions in an interview are not real for me . I am applying for a good job this week as an Employment Counsellor for hard-to employ individuals and I myself think I am becoming "hard to employ".
Interviewers seem to follow formal questions and look for specific answers and I am becoming uncertain how my friend got a job within 6 weeks after being fired for being "insubordinate" and I am taking up to 3 months and still not certain what my next job will be. I am thinking I will work as a Salesgirl for Xmas to get some money and keep myself going while I figure out the answers to job

I started work for this new company on November 1st. I am scheduled to work with my colleagues to better learn what it is I have to do. When ever its time for me to go into their offices and work with them, they tell me that they are too busy to train me. I insist that they help me, but they refuse. I have complained to my supervisor, and all she has to say is your going to be on your own starting in 1 week. I have to write grants for my job, but no one is taking the time to teach me. I'm affraid I will lose my job because of lack of team work. What should I do?

I recieved a felony dishonesty charge about 5 years back, I was wondering if in some way would the charge be sentenced down or have been expunged automatically. I am so afraid to answer that question when applying for jobs. Please what should I do.

If you were an intern and had to go to an interview in another state on a work day, would you tell your boss that you had a job interview? I've read that you should say you have an 'appointment' but it sounds so vague and fishy.

I work in a medium-sized sales office. Each person is assigned to work for a certain amount of territory sales reps. One of the women who sits near me is always falsifying overtime and saying she did this, that and the other thing. Management doesn't check and she knows she can get away with cheating the company. When we work OT, we are required to e-mail our supervisor but the supervisor never verifies the work with our reps. This woman is constantly falsifying OT because I've seen her time report (by accident). She sits and plays on the Internet and constantly racks up OT for doing nothing! It burns me up inside. Someone once reported another person for doing the same thing and the supervisor told her to mind her own business. Any comments out there on this subject? I look at it this way. What goes around, comes around (old saying) so this woman's dishonesty will eventually catch up with her - maybe not at this job but hopefully the next.
