I work in a medium-sized sales office. Each person is assigned to work for a certain amount of territory sales reps. One of the women who sits near me is always falsifying overtime and saying she did this, that and the other thing. Management doesn't check and she knows she can get away with cheating the company. When we work OT, we are required to e-mail our supervisor but the supervisor never verifies the work with our reps. This woman is constantly falsifying OT because I've seen her time report (by accident). She sits and plays on the Internet and constantly racks up OT for doing nothing! It burns me up inside. Someone once reported another person for doing the same thing and the supervisor told her to mind her own business. Any comments out there on this subject? I look at it this way. What goes around, comes around (old saying) so this woman's dishonesty will eventually catch up with her - maybe not at this job but hopefully the next.

Management is clearly not doing their job, and if I were you that would worry me about your company's long term prospects. Unless you are working somewhere that is a standout in its field, I would look the other way but also look for a job with a company focused on winning.

Obviously some serious supervisory situations in this company. Lying about overtime is stealing, clear and simple. You did the right thing in reporting it. I find the supervisors position very disappointing, unless there are personal relationships or other factors in place. Keep you nose clean, do you job and hope things straighten out. You might want to keep your eyes open for alternative employment as should like problems where you are now.

If management doesn't care, why should you? So far, she's not stealing from you, and if she is not in some way interfering with your job and job opportunities, then forget it, it won't be worth causing a flap and doing so could negatively impact your job and rep.
