I just got offered a job as an Account Executive for a good international company, I was scheduled to start on 11/27. However, I went to take my fingerprinting test on Friday afternoon. The receptionist that was supposed to mail off my test sent it to the wrong place.

So today, I had to go back, drive 30-35 min and do my fingerprinting test take it to the job(another 25 min), afterwards I went to get my hubby from work, they called and told me nobody signed the fingerprinting test, so my hubby and I had to drive all the way back to the job and pick up the fingerprinting test and get it signed. So I told the receptionist to call the fingerprinting dept to see if it was open...

It had closed early for the day.

My start date was pushed back to Dec. 4!

My hubby and I are flat broke and he doesn't get paid to the 30th, should I look for a job, but it still wouldn't do any good cuz everyone's on vacation...but what do you think?????????????????

Hang in there. It may seem like Dec. 4 is a long way off but it really is not. The Thanksgiving holiday is going to push a lot of things back. Just remember once you do start this job, be the best employee that they have. Pay close attention to details and your hard work may prevent someone else from going through the same thing you had to go through.

I can understand your frustration - the only thing I can say is that perhaps it happened to others too - and each time they mess up,. fewer people than before do the test again - perhaps some of your rivals are no longer in the running?

It might be worth hunting for another job in the meantime but having come this far, I would see how things turn out with the current one too.

Could you get some temping work for a couple of weeks to bring a little cash in?

I'm sorry for your frustration.

Situations like this make me think that the extra time you'll be facing before you start a new job is a gift. Is there anything that you could do for the extra week until you start your new job?

Maybe you could take care of any issues at home. Perhaps you could visit some friends or family members.

Try to ask yourself if there isn't anything that you could do during this time. I always think that everything happens for a reason.
