Hey guys!!

I just got off the phone with a woman who called and wanted to set up an interview for a potential job tomorrow. She Was asking a few questions over the phone just to get an idea of who I am and my job related experience and she asked me what I would like to be paid hourly----I didn't want to flat out say a specific number, so I told her that it was negotiable and I would accept whatever they felt comfortable offering me. Here's the thing though: on the job advertisement I responded to online it said that the position started at $13.00 per hour......do you think since I said what I said to her pay rate question she will offer me that starting rate or try to offer me something less? Thanks guys, and wish me luck for my interview tomorrow!! :)

I work as an administrative assistant for a small company (5 people office) in the financial field. I have been in my current position for only 1 year, but I am going to quit and go back to college in January (about 2 mos). Should I alert the bosses to my leaving now, one month, or two weeks from the date I leave?

I just tell them that I wanted to get out of IT Recruiting. I also was asked to resign from another recruiting job about 1 year before that becasue I wasn't achieving my sales goals. At times I feel like a total failure and loser. What do I tell future employers?

Also, I have had a lot of jobs in the past years. The longest I have stayed at a job is 1.5 years. How common is this? Is there something wrong with me? I start out really motivated and do really well, but I get bored very easily. Is anyone else like this?

I provide a service to members of our organization and I set up a meeting with a potential client and my boss just waltz in (10 minutes late) and didn't even include me in the meeting. I am so pissed right now, I just want to quit, but I can't. He literally walked in the conference room and shut the door without saying anything to me. I pitched the idea to this guy and brought him in while my boss was on vacation and I know I will be the one to end up doing all the paperwork. I didn't want to do the whole presentation, but at least be a part of it. What should I do??? And what do I tell him?? This isn't the first time he has done something like this. A few weeks back I was going to make a brochure and he just snatched it off my desk and gave it to his ex-wife to do.........uuuggghhhhh I'm so pissed!!!!!!!

I went to college and got a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and I've had a job since I graduated, but I'm not happy in my job. After careful consideration, I've decided that I'd like to become a teacher. Growing up, I was a babysitter, and I loved it, and I think the logical extension of that would to be a teacher. So, since I'm not in the position of just starting out in college where I can take courses towards a degree in elementary education, what can I do to become a teacher? Would I have to go back and get another Bachelor's degree or could I just take some courses and an exam to receive my teaching license? Thanks.

It seems l like I have no direction in my life as to what I need to do to make my financial life better and no ideas on what I want or need to pursue as a career to better myself. Please serious advice and/or ideas thanks!

Everyone seems so stuck on being professional that to them, being professional means don't be open about anything, only make quick meaningless dry jokes to pass the time & feel comfortable around others.

I want to talk more at work, but because of this I'm forced to not say much. & if I don't say anything, that could be considered me being anti-social. But how can you talk to people when at work, people basically dumb down conversations to just being about the weather? Is this how the work enviornment is suppose to be?

Your thoughts?

By the way: & the managers who say they encourage you talking more openly to them, always ends with them being very closed and secretive, so clearly they don't really want conversation.

Even at lunch time, people clearly force themselves to speak when the table gets quiet. & ofcourse the conversation is about another dry joke, nothing interesting.

Is this the way the work environment is suppose to be like? Because it's mindnumbing/boring.
