Well, the thing is, today with computers and technology you can do design work right at home and a lot of companies aren't always in the cities. some are but not all. You can subcontract or talk to employers about working at home. If you are good at it and come through they won't mind. This doesn't mean you can avoid the city completly but, you can do a lot outside the city or at home. Look up on google and find companies and see where a lot of them are located. it might give you an idea. Good luck. Do what makes you happy and pray then God will do the rest.

There are no residence requirements for being an architect. If you wind up with a job in the city, you can always commute.

I live in a small town, We have one or 2 architects here who seem to be earning decent money.

Don't forget you don't have to be designing a palace... people need architects even when they want a kitchen extension.

you will get paid more in a city environment rather than if you were working in a small town somewhere - just to let you know. ps - the pay isnt all great for someone in the city anyway either.
