If you are getting paid in cash and there is no way to trace the income. That is being paid under the table
If you are getting a check every week and are on a pay role than you are not being paid under the table. IF you are confused check a dictionary okay? Bye!

Did you fill out a W-4 when you started working there? If you never filled out a W-4 then you are working under the table. Do you get a real paycheck or cash? Are taxes taken out of your pay?

Maybe independent contractor, at least if they own or lease their own shop. That means they peay their taxes at the end of the year rather than have it withheld from their pay--basically because they're their own bosses.
