I work as a supervisor in charge of a small team. A new girl recently joined the team who is not pulling her weight at all. She is very slow in everything she does & if i tell her to go quicker she answers me back. She is very rude & has an excuse for everything. My manager is aware that she is completely useless & has witnessed it herself although wont get rid of her as we are desperate for staff.
I have tried the soft approach and run through everything in really simple terms but she claims to forget everything i tell her so I have to go over the same things day after day.
Its really frustrating. I have tried the harder approach and told her she needs to proove herself in order to keep the job although nothing seems to work. If I speak to her about her performance she ends up in tears. Im at the end of my tether & she is increasing my workload.
In all my years as a supervisor I have never met anyone so lazy, rude & akward! really not sure what to try next. Any ideas???????

Im 20 and im currently in college to be a nurse. At my school you have to apply to the nursing program b-cuz it's really good. So because i was one class short i cant apply to go next fall i would have to wait untill fall of 2008. I have 4 more pre-requisite classes and then im done untill i actually get in the program. So that means i have almost two years to take 4 classes. What i want to do is get a joba and everyone agrees with that but i want to go to this 8-week program to be a certified nurses aide and then get a job. I thin that would be smart because it would be in my feild and would give experience and would pay me more than getting a job at like a grocery store or some thing. My mother and my boyfriend disagree. My mom thinks its stupid for me to give them my money (1,000) to learn stuff im going to have to learn anyway and my BF thinks just because i go to the clases it doesn't garentee i will get a job. What do you think. Thanks

Still Having problems at work?
Ok I have the co-worker that was just "sick" for a week. She said she had a "virus". Since she came back to work Monday, she has put in 14hrs and can not show up on time. Today she will not be in until 1:30PM (our hours are the same 8-4 or later-depending on the work load) My problem is I can Not work like this, our jobs a closely knit together and I need someone that is more reliable to work with. Do I bring this up to my bosses or not?? PS She has missed 20days of work this year alone and has been late God knows how many times..My bosses have not said a thing to her, but it's starting to make me dis-like my job cuz she keeps getting away with it...How do I go on..??? Please help>>>

PS - AS far as I know she likes her job and I have already spoke to her about this...she just doesn't give a F**k

Instead of the normal, pc letter, have you ever written something like, "I am desperate for a job. I'm going to lose my house next month."

HR people - I'm interested in hearing from you especially. What gets your attention?

A friend who had never modeled. Model clothing for my company witch is just starting out. We have not made any profit. When I asked my friend how much she would like to be pay befor we shot. She said that she did not know and that she is not worried about it. The next week after the shoot was done she asked for three hundred dollars. Thier is no contract and I believe half of what she asked for is fair.

Working as a manager in a new mall shop, got hired to open new store 6 days ago. Owners decide to start a commission with $8 hourly after our agreement was $17 hourly for me after 6 days. Hired sales staff at $15 an hour; they also cut to $8 plus lower commission than me. Is this legal? Commission amounts based on very high sales, so very hard to make the $17 an hour. That is why I left other job for this advance; would never have taken job at this pay scale. What are the legal recourses. Feel like I've been lied to.

I'm 26 and I'm sick of the serious and professional work environments that I've been sticking to. It's time for me to break out of my shell and have a good time! What kind of jobs are there where I can be allowed to be funny and somewhat "goofy"? Don't suggest being a clown, because I don't want to be one. Is there anything else I can to that will allow me to release my positive and cheerful energy???

My 28 year old boyfriend has some misdemeanor charges on his record that can be expunged. However, he doesn't work, and therefore doesn't have the money to expunge the charges. It would be easier for him to get the job he wants if he gets the charges expunged. Is it my responsibility to supply him with the funds everytime i get paid so he can get these things expunged?? I think it's his responsibility to be honest, because I didn't do the crimes..why should I have to pay for them...am i being too harsh?

Just dont understand why she needs to make a fuss over small matter. If she cannot help, it's ok. Doesn't mean that if lady boss has told her to help me, she cant help others? She takes 3 hrs to finish simple tasks and yet sounded as if she knows everything! Very fed up with her. Told her it's ok, nevermind if you cant help. Still went ahead to complain to our manager, her good friend!! Two crazy peoples!!

I've been working part-time for 3 weeks in a retail environment. When I first arrived, I was told I would be sharing a cash drawer with my boss. When I first counted the drawer I discovered it was $47 short of cash. I told my manager who explained that it had been short since a previous employee had stolen from it, and he said he would fix it. 3 weeks have passed and it's still not fixed, as a matter of fact, it's now short $58. This leads me to conclude that my boss cannot count or is careless with money. This concerns me only because I share that drawer with him, so I am equally responsible for the cash. In order to fix the drawer he would have to short the deposit, which HIS boss would notice, which is why I believe he hasn't done it. What are my options here? I'm at a loss and getting more nervous by the second.
