Instead of the normal, pc letter, have you ever written something like, "I am desperate for a job. I'm going to lose my house next month."

HR people - I'm interested in hearing from you especially. What gets your attention?

If you really want the job that you want to send the letter to..I'd make up a good resume & have a great interview with them. Once in the interview, express to them your desire for the job (dont tell them you only want the job for fear of losing your home..this will make them think you are not genuine about the job, just about money.) During this time I would get a job elsewhere that you could manage to get quickly (mall, fastfood, etc) the moneys not that great, but you need something to have WHILE you're trying to get that job. This will also let you work incase you don't get this job..you can look for another one just as good.
so, in turn, I would NOT suggest writing a 'desperate' letter. I would simply let the hirer know that you are extremely interested in the position. Even write a follow up e mail.

It could work, it could put them off--depends on the manager and the situation. I knew someone who was overqualified for everything he applied for, and only got a chance (and did get the job) when he explained that he was looking for less of a job than his previous positions so he could stop traveling 80 days a year and save his marraige. (He wanted to be an accountant, used to be a vice president.)

Yes, it said "Me love you long time. Give me job."

Needless to say, it worked
