i know my boss is selling his businness, but he denites it and we heard he already has sold it. i'm trying to find out how much time i have until i am out of a job. does the owner have a legal obligation to notifiy us or can he just close.

legal obligation no they don't have to tell you.. husband worked for a company for 6 years and one day he was meet at the door and told to clear off his desk They are shutting there door,,, when he asked why didn't even the managers know this was happening ,,there reply was we needed to keep the money coming in till we shut down morally it stinks but there nothing that could be done .........start looking for another job and good luck

Whomevers name is on your paycheck is the owner, unless it comes through a management company.
If it does, you could always call payroll with some other innocuous question, then make some casual inquiry like 'I've heard we may have new owners, I wonder how I find out ?' . . . if the payroll clerk is friendly & in the loop, they may share info with you.
