Still Having problems at work?
Ok I have the co-worker that was just "sick" for a week. She said she had a "virus". Since she came back to work Monday, she has put in 14hrs and can not show up on time. Today she will not be in until 1:30PM (our hours are the same 8-4 or later-depending on the work load) My problem is I can Not work like this, our jobs a closely knit together and I need someone that is more reliable to work with. Do I bring this up to my bosses or not?? PS She has missed 20days of work this year alone and has been late God knows how many times..My bosses have not said a thing to her, but it's starting to make me dis-like my job cuz she keeps getting away with it...How do I go on..??? Please help>>>

PS - AS far as I know she likes her job and I have already spoke to her about this...she just doesn't give a F**k

not to mention the fact that she spends an hour a day doing her homework AFTER she has already taken her lunch break

Well...she didn't show up at 1:30PM..in fact she didnt show up at all

You could go to your immediate superior or to human resources and ask them if you can get some more help in your department.

I'd not accuse this co-worker as that would reflect badly on you as well. I'm sure they'd be more likely to get a temp or some more help if you tell them that the workload would run more streamlined and the work get done in a more timely manner.

I would approach your boss about this. Especially if your job relies on hers. Depending on what kind of relationship you have with your boss you might have to use your words more tactfully but just let them know that it's affecting your job by not having the other person their to share the load. Let them know you are doing your best but it's stressful on you. Myself I have a comfortable relationship with my coworkers/bosses so I would just come out and tell them. So and So just doesn't give a f*** and you might want to look into this situation. There may be issues you don't know about but cover yourself in case you should get behind in your duties and don't let the stress make you sick by over doing it trying to please everyone. Think of yourself first. It's a job. Your health is more important. IF it continues to be so stressful and nothing is done it may be time for a new job.

Talk to your boss about this. Not only is your co-worker inconsiderate, but unreliable, and isn't concerned about her job. If it were me, I'd be raising some hell in the bosses office. Her unreliability is causing you to carry the burden of excess work. Your boss needs to give her a performance review, put her on a 90 day probation, and if she is late/absent without a medical excuse from a MD, fire her, during her probationary period.

Because it is directly affecting your job, you need to speak to your boss about it. But ensure you keep it about how it is affecting your job. Don't talk negatively about the person - just the problems that their absence is causing your job performance. He/she may know something about that employee that you are not privy too (Medical issues, Family issues, etc). Also, they (your supervisor) may be able to find a solution to the problems that you encounter when your co-worker isn't there. Or they can re-align tasks, etc.

As a supervisor myself, I know of many issues my employees have, but it is not shared among peers. What I try to do is keep a balance. It's not always easy, but if I am NOT aware of a problem, I can't help to fix it.

Do your own job. Who cares what she does or says. It's none of your business. If you can't complete your job properly, tell your boss you need to reconsider the project's deadlines or could use some temporary help.

Yes, I would bring it up to the boss but they should already know. I think I would bring it up on my way out after finding another job. If they aren't doing anything, they obviously don't care about you or else they are incompetent too.
