getting a job?

Question

I'm a freshman in college. I've never had a job before, and I'm having a lot of trouble getting one because noone wants someone so inexperienced. I also can't drive, but i'll be able to soon. any suggestions?

I would look at all the campus job postings. I didn't get my first job until college. You may have to apply to some more manual labor jobs like delivery or stocking. My first job was a delivery job in college. But, I think you can find a job that is pretty flexible that is on campus. During college, I had three different jobs. So, I know that it is doable. Also, data entry or admin jobs are probably available if you can type fast or have good communication skills.

Otherwise, I would suggest working at the mall or in other retail positions. I think they are okay, however, you will have less flexibility in your schedule..I feel that campus employers are a lot more understanding of your school schedule.

If you want a REAL job, I would suggest applying to the stores within your local mall. There are alot of stores that will hire you despite that fact that you do not have any experience. I used to be a manager for Forever 21 and I would hire people without experience because I knew that their personalities would enable them to be great workers and they were. Just make sure that you really WANT the job and show it. Be enthusiastic, bubbly, and show a genuine interest. Also, ALOT of stores are now hiring for seasonal help. It is a great time to get your foot in the door and prove yourself. If you are really good, most companies will bring you on permanently.

there are many places that will work with you since you are a student... have you tried any type of restaurants or something like that? maybe even a convenience store? there should be a counselor at school that will be able to tell you where to go too...
