there's this person i have to deal with on a near daily basis - co-worker. she's this manipulative creature - i mean, if you don't really know her, you may just believe every word she says. the problem is when you actually have to work with her, and you get to see her exactly the way she is.
hard enough to deal with her schemes, she gets aggressive when things don't go the way she planned. not physicaly, of course, but she get into this tantrum, yelling at everyone, being rude. o, i forgot to mention that she resorts to lie.
and to add to the problem, i got the promotion she was after, so i'm always at her spotlight. and as she can't always get to me, she'll go after the other people that work with me. i actually had to stop her from firing people - on the basis of some hairy tale she presents the boss, and i had to quickly investigate and forward the truth (got me an evil eye from her!).
she's not going away - don't know anyone willing to give her a job, plus she's the boss's niece

I have been working under my current boss for almost 9 months now. There has been several misunderstandings and I think that he doesn't believe I am always being truthful with him. Lately I have admitedly been lacking focus and need to show him that I am serious about focusing on my responsibilities more. I was dealing with several difficult family issues including a death of someone close, but know now that it is no excuse for not being on top of things while on the job. I have not made any large mistakes, but have been lacking focus and making minor errors that have been making him angry. I know that I am ready to prove to him that I can hone my focus and perform my duties exceptionally well as I had been before. Without specifics as to what position I hold, what is the best approach to regaining my boss's trust that I will be on the top of my game from now on.

pay back training cost if I do not remain employed for at least 1 year. The document has excessive non compete disclaimers and require that I agree not to sue and agree to pay for part of the cost of mediation should such need arise. Non of which was discussed before I accepted the offer. I would not have accepted this position had these terms (2 pages worth) been disclosed up front. Yet I have already tendered my resignation in my current position and given notice on my current apartment lease. I am not willing to sign this document. What can I do at this point?

my boss is a big bully and i want advice on how to deal with him! he accused me once of stealing fax money and now deducts it from my weekly wages. he pays me $150 a week and now deducts 50.. so i can barely do anything for myself. ihe knows i'm in a very vulnerable situation and all the money i can get. anyway, i have something important to take of and i need $400.. he said he'll help me out but i know he's lying... i asked him to stop the deduction till i get the money saved up and he refused saying that he'll help me come up with the money, now that doesn't make any sense... he treats me really bad and it hurts! who can i turn to and what can i do?

I recently had two job interviews at a fortune 500 company in California for a receptionist position. At end of 2nd interview, I was told, "We would like to make you a job offer, after we do a background check" ( My background is spotless except for a traffic ticket 10 years ago). When I called back after 9 days they coldly told me the position was filled ( No explanation) and the job is again being posted on job boards. I believe after the 2nd interview they realized I was over 50. I believe my age was the issue. However in the intereview they stated I was qualified and wanted to make me a job offer. Is this a verbal contract.

I have to type an interview, I hardly have ANY information, no quotes no deep questions. I have to type a paragraph of it. I've managed to make a paragraph but it needs serious revision. Can you help me? The sensored words are all in upper case.

Mrs. LADY is an 8th teacher at SOME JR HIGH that teaches Algebra 1.

This young teacher is fresh out of college, and this is her first year ever teaching.

Mrs. LADY has a four year Bachelor's Degree and two years of a Master's Degree.

The reason she started teaching because she wanted to teach people and wanted kids to love math.

She was invited into a poster confrence in Mexico, which is really neat.

She quotes, "It's not really an award..."

Well it's really scattered information, I don't know what to do with it, can you help me?

I think she's trying to bully me into quitting. Last spring I was ordered to do something I didn't think was right - a possible legal nightmare for the company - and now I'm being constantly reminded of my insubordination and how it will go badly on my yearly review.

We have an ethics hotline that we are encouraged to report to, but to be completely honest I don't know if I have the courage. It could ruin her career, and since it wouldn't be hard to figure out it was me I can't count on remaining anonymous. So it could mean all kinds of nightmares for me professionally. But I'm already in a nightmare and I don't know if it's easier to try to ride it out.

I don't really want to quit just yet because I actually like my job, I'm good at it, and I have a baby and a small child and most careers in my field require a lot of travel, but not my current position. Except for her, I'm in an ideal spot.

What would you do?
