Say, "So... about that raise..."

I have been thinking the same thing for a while.

What I am going to do is write down everything I have done to improve the group I work in and the schedule an apointment with my boss. I am basing it upon my contributions as opposed to what other people in my same area are accomplishing. As long as you are not demanding and you go about it the right way even if they can't give you a raise right away, you at least know that the thought will be in the back of your bosses mind.

You need to tell why you deserve a raise. Make a list for yourself first, then work on it from your bosses perspective. Are you always at work on time? Get things done when asked? Are polite if you're in customer service? Just think of all the things you are doing well.

Making a list of your accomplishments is a great idea, but also find out what your position is worth. Websites like salary.com have statistics to gauge how you are being paid.
