There are so many resources online about nursing programs. You should look to find some in your area then see what the prerequisites are for that school. I am trying to get into the nursing program and the school I want to go to has the prerequisites of Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Microbiology, English 100 and Math 100. Some schools want more, some less. Also, because the RN programs are so impacted and most people are put on a waiting list, it is important to get at least a B in each of these classes. I have heard that if you get all A's you do not get put on a waiting list. Also, I have heard that if you get a bad grade in the class and retake it to get a better grade, that is used against you.

The whole reason the program is so impacted isn't because there aren't enough schools, it's because not enough nurses are leaving the clinical environment to become teachers.

I work in the ER in a hospital and I highly recommend working in a doctor's office or a hospital while you are taking your prereqs. It gives you a really good idea of what a nurse does, and almost all hospitals will pay for you to go to nursing school up front! I never thought I would be interested in the medical field, until I started working at the hospital 2 years ago. Now I am obsessed! You don't need any special training to work in a clerical position at a hospital either. I hope this helps!! Good luck!
