pay back training cost if I do not remain employed for at least 1 year. The document has excessive non compete disclaimers and require that I agree not to sue and agree to pay for part of the cost of mediation should such need arise. Non of which was discussed before I accepted the offer. I would not have accepted this position had these terms (2 pages worth) been disclosed up front. Yet I have already tendered my resignation in my current position and given notice on my current apartment lease. I am not willing to sign this document. What can I do at this point?

Those are fairly standard agreements, and if you intend on staying with the company for over a year and have no intention of selling company secrets, then I don't think you have much to worry about. Then again these days one can't be too careful.

tell the company that this was not what you were expecting when you took the job. you can easily talk to your landlord and I am sure they would understand, unless they have already chosen a new tenant for your unit. I just hope you have money saved because you really cant tell your current employer oops, sorry I mean I want to stay for awhile more, but you could tell them (if you havent already told them that you have found a new job and just said that you were moving) that your moving plans have changed. good luck!

Contact an employment attorney. You can't sign away your rights. Why would you want to work for a company like that anyway?
