in a professional work environment? I have 3 facial piercings and I'm a librarian. We got a new district manager and he personally don't like tham and asked me to remove them. I have had them for a long time. I was hired with them, they do not interfere with my ability to do my work, and I have NEVER received a complaint about them in the 4 yrs I've worked here. Any suggestons?

At work, I was on the computer and my heart started to flutter ( like heart attack ) I ran down hallways yelling help and people tried to calm me down. I ran out out of the building and started running in the salt marsh out back and then jumped in the small river channell and swam across... I was so afraid and panicky, all I knew to do was to keep moving to try to calm down. Ambulance and then helicopter came and air-lifted me to the hospitol...

I am thinking about going to school to become an RN. I am looking more into schools where I can get tuition reinbursement. Do you know if once you sign the contract that you will work for them, that they are allowed to pay anything they want? Or are you supposed to get paid nicely? I don't expect the maximum when I start, but I don't want to work for $10/hour. Thanks.

Two weeks ago I was given a distriburtorship of a novel roof coating product. My commision was to be 8% at contractors price level.I landed a BIG fish to whom I did not have the knowledge or experience to close the sale. The manufacture stepped in and closed a 3M deal.I was told that my new position was that of a manufacture rep and my commission is to be 4%.The price of the product sold was less than distributor price. What is a manufacture rep.I am new to sales and need to find out were I stand.

Me and my fiance used to be self employed, but running our own business was becoming too stressful, and i was looking for a future career change. We decided to sell off 2/3 of the company to 2 other gentlemen, and i would no longer be owner. Well it just seems that even though i dont own the company, these people talk down to me, which i dont appreciate. Right now i am getting paid the same as an average employee, when i do 3x the workload! I want to do my own thing, be my own person. I feel trapped. My fiance loves working with me in the office, and that is my weakness. I want to leave this place so bad, but he begs me to stay. Is that selfish of him? If i was to schedule a meeting with my fiance and the other 2 men, what should i say to them? Ask for a pay raise? Complain about my dislikes? I just dont know. HELP!!

I am helping my sister with her resume and am unsure whether to leave it as a functional resume or if I should switch it to a reverse chronological. I believe I can better present her experience in the functional (it's actually more of a combination) format, but I know that it is a deterrant for some recruiters.
I realize that functional resumes can be seen as an attempt to hide deficiencies or irregularities in employment history. My sister has an honors bachelor's degree in English, and is looking for a writing/editing type job. She completed her degree a year ago (after several years) but worked while completing her degree part time. She only has one substantially relevant job experience, and the job title does not accurately reflect her responsibilities. I am concerned that if she lists her work experience and education first, then recruiters will see those points first (one year since graduation, and an irrelevant job title), and not proceed to see her true skills/experience

Well,I used to work as a male nurse here in Italy until I decided to move to London to learn English. Now I've come back to Italy for 3 years and ever since I used to work as a hotel receptionist. That's simply because i learnt some English and since I've been told i'm quite fluent,I just consider it a shame to put it down.I wasn't happy working as a nurse and would like to find a job to use my English. The job as a receptionist was a seasonal job in a hotel where I worked with no days off and for even 12 hours a day. What else should I look for?

I got fired from my old job 2 months ago.(I was there 1 year) I had diagreaments with managment on certain issues and i refused to quit so they terminated me. I know got hired by a new employer. When the new employer asked why I explained that i was laid off. I did not want to say trhe word fired. They hired me . I gave them references from my previous job before the last one which I was at 15 years. They are now doing a credit and background check. They will not be calling my previous employer as I never gave them any numners but was curious if in my credit records or whatever records they get for a background check if they will somehow find out i was fired. Is there anywhere where that info can be gathered other than calling the employer themselves?? Little worried about starting this job and then getting let go before I even start.

My sisters boyfriend drives a tractor trailer. (On the road for days, then off, owns his own rig) She is going to go with him working in Jan. He is promising her a "large" piece of land with a ranch, and horses. Is this something that can be affordable with this type of job, or is he just giving her a line.
