Check with your local vet offices and see what they suggest doing. On the job training is good and one of them may need your help and train you at the same time.

I do not see how online courses would allow you to become a vet tech. While there is academic work, you need the hands on experience to be any good. As for tech schools, I can't say I know of any in your area. However, it couldn't hurt to check with the nearest veterinary college to see if they know, or the nearest university. You might not need to attend a university (a vet tech program in my area is through a college, but they get time and experience at the veterinary college).
