Me and my fiance used to be self employed, but running our own business was becoming too stressful, and i was looking for a future career change. We decided to sell off 2/3 of the company to 2 other gentlemen, and i would no longer be owner. Well it just seems that even though i dont own the company, these people talk down to me, which i dont appreciate. Right now i am getting paid the same as an average employee, when i do 3x the workload! I want to do my own thing, be my own person. I feel trapped. My fiance loves working with me in the office, and that is my weakness. I want to leave this place so bad, but he begs me to stay. Is that selfish of him? If i was to schedule a meeting with my fiance and the other 2 men, what should i say to them? Ask for a pay raise? Complain about my dislikes? I just dont know. HELP!!

This is not your fiancé’s decision or those 2 guys. It’s yours!!! If you are not happy workings there then why stay? Your Fiancé has to understand that this job is not offering you what you are looking for in a job. Before you quit you should make sure u have something lined up. Once you picked something you want to do, compare the two different lifestyles. If you stay with your current job where do u see yourself in the next couple years? Ask yourself this question for the other job you pick. Look at every aspect money, happiness, your fiancé, etc. Compare and decide on what you want to do. Then set a goal and start working towards it.

This seems like the situation will never get any better...they have controlled you since they bought in...do the right thing for them and for YOU...get any other job that you can, learn from this, and if you think about being self employeed again, look long term towards the success of it then make a decision....sometimes it is just easier working for someone else...and don't worry about your fiance..if he had your best interests at heart, he would encourage you to be in the happiest place possible...

You are no longer the owner, so you can't exptect to be treated like an owner. Also, you shouldn't have to do all that extra work. I would leave the place and spend time with your fiance at night and on the weekends.

i would ask for a raise and if that doesn't work quit and get another job. a job isn't worth having a losy boss over. find another job that will actually apreciate your work.
