Make sure the customer is getting what they ask for and just that!
Never be rude!
Don't complain or sigh if they ask of something you don't want to do.
Do what you say you will do for them in a timely manner.
Don't BS them.
Treat them like a real person, not another face coming into the office/store/wherever you work.
Keep them informed as you help them!
People love efficiency so make sure that you are!!

Hi, Whenever I trained someone new in the restaurant business I would always tell them....think about how you like to be treated and than treat your customers 100% more than that. To me, that is what makes great customer service. If I ever had someone come in that was down, frown on their face or whatever I made it a priority to make sure before they left that I helped them to laugh alittle and leave with a smile. I usually was successful and that always made my day. Now that I am not working in that field, I have turned it around. If someone is waiting on me and they seem down I try to make sure that when I leave they have a smile on their face...this too, makes my day.

Plain old empathy. At the end of the day, people just want to be heard and understood. This is especially true if you have a problem.

I love my dry cleaners because she always remembers me and never forgets anything. I won't go anywhere else and she is the highest cost in town.

Treat the customer as well or better than you would want to be treated if the roles were reversed.
