I began temping at a company several months ago. I work alongside an employee there who has been on board for 11 years.
He does his work, but most times I've been told that when I do things on the job, they're mostly things he should be doing......

And he'll get demanding over it. To him, from what I've been told, there has always been a problem between him and the temps that have worked there. Basically, we're pieces of s*it to the guy. At any rate, he has practically no personality, is very serious all the time and hardly talks to people that work in the company. He tries to be polite, but it always sounds contrived and forced.

He also doesn't come off as sincere. If you ever say something to him that he doesn't agree with, he'll threaten to go to the boss or hiring manager. He's done it in the past.

We have to drive our car down the road for some pickups several times a day. But he (not even a boss) contests this and will look at you with a

This motivational speaker type came into one of my classes with his long-winded and boring presentation about 'building a resume'. Two quotes that struck me as incredibly stupid were "Employers don't give a hoot what your GPA is" and "if you don't have any job experience, nobody will hire you".

If employers never hired anyone without job exeprience, how would anyone get job experience in the first place? With regards to the first, why would anyone want to pass hiring a smart, hard-working A-student to instead hire an unmotivated and stupid C student? This guy seems to be here on the mission of scaring undergrads into going out and working as underpaid labor for local companies.

Should I take him seriously or is he full of crap?

I've written some movie reviews but do not know exactly how to get in to speak with some of the newspaper editors. When calling on the phone, no one with authority is put through to speak with me.

At the end of the interview I gave him a copy of my resume with references in it. He looked at the objective statement and told me I should have tried to write something better than "An entry level [field of interest] position." He was very polite and did not seem upset.

I thanked him for his honesty and his criticism.

What do you make of this? Am I a fool for thinking I still have a chance to work for this guy? Is it likely that he was just testing my reaction?

Recently went and printed off 25 resume's, expecting to have a bit of difficult getting a job, however, he first place I visited offered me a position, which I took on my mum's advice (just a cafe job- clearing tables, washing dishes, taking orders, putting together cakes and drinks, etc.).

Here's the thing- the lady who hired me is really rude, as well as a lot of the other staff there. My boss told me that I would be put down on a roster, but has instead been just calling me either the night before, or on the same day that she wants me to work. This makes things really difficult for me, since I've recently been very sick and have a lot of specialist appointments which clash with this- last time I worked, she didn't even pay me and said "I'll pay you next time you come in"-- she didn't call me in for THREE WEEKS and even then, tried to pretend as though she had already paid me for last time. She tried to weasel out of getting my bank details too.
