I have already received an written offer letter and all forms and a start date has been established for my new job.
When I recently handed my written and oral 2 weeks notice to my current employer I was consise and explained briefly that my new job is more suitable for what I would like to go to school for down the road. However, I have many great friends here and have let it slip to a couple where I will be working. Is this ok?

Do I have to worry about my current boss finding out & trying to sabotage my new job offer? My boss is very moody leading us to have had a pretty rocky relationship in the past few months, and many others in my grp seem to have a prob w/ the way our boss behaves twds us and others. Do people generally let their co-wokers/boss know who their new employer is(if they have an offer letter in hand)?

Never went to college but have had great work experience, have worked as a Senior Account Exec in Advertising sales for the last 7 years and did very well. Now looking for a new job, everyone wants a college degree. Worried and its too late for me to go back to school. I am originally from the UK where it is more common not to have gone to college. I now live in the US. How do I convince some of these companies that I am more valuable than someone with a college degree and less experience?

This is not necessary related to your qualification or experience or field but area where the customer or employee feels that you will add value (solution) to them.

Just as the title says.

If it means anything, I'm majoring in design..specifically interior but I can do pretty much anything in design. This probably means very little though since I've yet to obtain my degree. I just figure if I can't get a job that pays a lot for the time being might well gets something that relates somewhat to my major...

my daughter who is 17 has been asked to do stock take in a shop she works in part-time. her normal hours are thursday 4 hours and sunday 6 hours, it is in her contract. she is studying for her A levels and I really dont want her to do it as it will interfere with her study, the stocktake is this evening starting at 6pm until whenever it is finished, probably after midnight. i am doing a night shift and wont be able to pick her up but her manager is saying she HAS to do it. Is that really right?

I work as a pest contol technician for one of the top 2 pest contol companies and drive the company truck. I am going on vacation and one of the sales guys is taking my truck to run my route while I'm on vacation. I parked the truck at work last night after my route and got up this morning and realized I totally spaced and left my stash in the glove compartment. I drove to the office and the truck is gone. Obviously the dude picked it up to do the Satarday route. I'm totally screwed. Can I deny this if im busted? how far are they going to take it? fingerprints... pee test? This is going to riun my vacation not to mention any buzz I have on vacation.

I am just wondering because it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I kn ow that they deal with employees and benefits but explain to me what justifies the higher pay? I took HR in college and to me, it was worthless like Psychology or Marketing.

Someone. Please explain to me why HR generally is paid more than other business fields.

Here is the thing: I already have my vacation scheduled for next week. I may have a new job, and will find out Monday for sure. Can you be denied your vacation pay if you put in your two week notice, and want to use your vacation as one of the weeks?
It was brought to my employer's attention that I may have another job, and he said, you don't have to put in a two week notice if I do get the job. I will find out Monday If I do get it, then I would want to use my already scheduled vacation, then start the new job week after next. Since he said (sincerely) I don't need to put in the two week notice, it sounded to me like he was politely firing me, but the fact remains I gave no actual "notice" yet. I was waiting to actually talk to him after I found out for sure on Monday. Someone I trusted let the cat out of the bag. You can't trust anyone, I guess.

when I started at my job last summer I had been diagnosed with a long term illness and had times when I would be off work. I was very open about this to all concerned. Unfortunately, after only 1 month I became very ill and was off for 5 months very sick. i never recieved 1 phone call or message from anyone. On return I was told by my line manager that certain members of the team had "issues" about my absence. Since then some members have made it as difficult as possible and I have had to work really hard to intergrate ( I am one of the managers) However I am off again hopefully only for a couple of weeks .I feel so hurt and angry about all this but yet cannot show this any suggestions?

What I mean is, I work for a company that has a need for a shipping supervisor. I don't want it, but I could "unofficially" list it as an inside scoop for someone looking, then all they have to do is apply. So you could post openings or view openings in an area even if the company doesn't advertise?
