anything OVER is bad esp when u exude a character of arrogance and bossiness. syoure u r expert in your own field, but bear in mind that YOU are selling yourself, ur experience, your knowhow, and your competencies, each time you apply for a job and get an interview. and since you act as a salesperson selling yourself, you should convince your customer- the job interviewer, that you are the answer to his need- that is the job opening.
during interviews, it is best to exude confidence in your competencies but at the same time, exude a feeling of willingness to learn and start fr the ladder. remember, learning is a continuous process, so everything is a new experience for u even tho u r already considered competent in your own field.
it also pays to look back where u went wrong... review your answers and how u were during the interview. sometimes interviewers post tricky questions that will manifest your tendencies. also, review your body language...and maintain an eye contact with the interviewer. recent studies showed that interviewers also look how u move your eyes (up coming fr either left or right), each time u answer a question. remember, interviewers look at everything during interviews- both verbal and non verbal languages.
and most importantly, pray before your interview, it helps to seek guidance fr the Lord.
good luck to u and happy job hunting!

Which one is your question?!
Ok, to answer the first one: I don't think being over-confident is a bad thing, but it does depend on how you present yourself. If you give off an "I am better than the world" air, then you're not going to get along all that well! But if it means that you can take some kicks and just brush them off, then it's a positive attribute!
Which leads me to your second question: why didn't you get the job? Well, if you went in with that "I am great" attitude, then your interviewer is going to put on a back footing, and no-one likes to feel that way. Sometimes it's better to show a little humility - especially to those who think they have power over you (as an interviewer does!).
Maybe you came across as being too cocky and full of yourself, or just simply there was someone better qualified out there!
Perhaps you could get in touch with the company and ask them for feed back on your interview - then you'll know what to change next time!
Good luck and happy job hunting!

there are many reasons for not making it finally into any interview. Itz just not your attitude and knowledge but also the requireement of the company decides your selection. it may happen that you may be over competent for the job you have applied for. in this case company will soon lose as you wont be staying for long time at the same job. In this manner there may be many reasons. so you dont need to be worried about anything. Keep your positive approach intact and be confident but never be over confident, as it may give wrong impression to the interviewers.

There's nothing wrong with being confident or the 'don't hate me because I'm beautiful...' thing. Just face it, people are jealous. Judge your looks yourself. People might say you don't look great or something like that because they are threatened or jealous, don't confuse what people say with what they mean in a social situation. Don't look for validation from other people, look in the mirror. If you look at somebody who is beautiful you can see a look in their eyes, a sense of confidence, if you see that staring back at you then you are beautiful and should be confident.

Being confident is great, but being over confident can be seen as arrogance and rub people the wrong way. Besides, most people get hired based on their qualifications and then whether their personality fits the business your looking to get hired by.

as long as your not arrogant and always give other people confidence. Confidence can be good for improving performance but can also be dangerous if you dont take advice from other people because your 'a know it all'

The question behind this is what/who you are confident in. Even failing a job interview can help you be confident in the right thing, if you want to see that, and not only the job.
