People can improve out of necessity... not necessarily ambition. A person might HAVE TO find a better paying job than end up losing a home... the catalyst is not ambition, but simply necessity.

Lack of ambition is akin to apathy. IE. no hope for the self or hominids in general. Duh, media moguls make their money keeping people in a state of despair/confusion/anger and their sponsors convince you that the remedy is buying their product.

Solution? Self imposed media blackouts. Volunteer in a local organization that best represents action against what's got you down. Volunteering is great. It's the only time when you can go to work and have people actually Thank You for showing up! It's a win win situation that will eventually restore your faith in your abilities as well as that of the community you live, work with.
