well no, but if you do you will start a little further up the ladder on the pay scale. The important question will be can you survive the job? Corruption, a general mistrust by the public, the responsibility, the suicide and divorce rate etc. That badge wont act as a barrier against anything and more and more its becoming a target. People are fighting back and full of anger and need someone to lash out on, whether its a neighbor or a cop things are getting crazy.

How it is in California is you just need your high school diploma with decent grades then you go through the academy, which is school. If you want to advance in rank, you should take a criminal justice course.

you can go the academy route...2 yr degree route...even 4 yr and advanced degrees. Good luck, and thanks if you do. Not enough pay for risking your life every day.
