I'm about to start a new job where I'll have use of a company car. I don't have all the details from the company yet, but I'm wondering about a few things. If I drive it to and from work, is it considered additional income? What if I need to run a personal errand while I'm driving it for work? Am I entitled to expense my receipts for car washes and other maintenance? What else do I need to know? I don't want to commit a faux-pas right off the bat!

Sometimes I am straight out busy at work, and others, like now, I am not. I am completely organized and all of my work is caught up. It's a very small office.
What could I do to take advantage of this extra time???

Ok, so we have a general Fax Coversheet at our office (we run a children's movie DVD distribution facility) and it is saved on our network Microsoft word program. Anyway, whenever you need a faxcover sheet you just acces it through the network and edit it to apply to whomever you're sending it to. Anyway, yesterday my friend sent a fax to his girlfriend in New Jeresey and inthe fax cover sheet comments section he jokingly wrote: I MISS BANGING YOU IN THE ***.
The next day, he had to send something to our female boss and used a fax cover sheet but forgot to erase that nasty comment. Now she's pissed...and he doesnt know what to do. Any advice?

I work at a family fun center and they've really made me mad, they changed my hours for today without even asking. If I call off they won't be short staffed. Actually their over staffed today. I feel perfectly fine and it's a gorgeous fall day outside. Plus if I go I'm only working 2:30 to 6 which hardly seems worth my energy to go in.

I am tired of getting burnt on doing child care. I am a disabled mom(retired from the medical field). I would like to know if there are any legite options for working "cash under the table" jobs. Because I am disabled and recieve disability, I would need cash, but also can't work standing very long and I'm also almost completely deaf. Please be nice, this is a serious question.

I spent 21 years in the Navy. Always putting the job first. I did not go to the hospital unless I had to. Work always came first.

Now on a new job. I need to go my boss seemed ok with it. since I am in the office most of the time, I need one of the mechanics to cover. I asked if he had anything going on the next few weeks in the early am. His response was of course not I put the job first!!

I know the reason he said that is cuz we have another employee who has a hard problem getting to work on time (ever day he is late)

Now I feel bad. I know i should put myself first and get my tennis elbow looked at.

My husband and I went into business with a guy 3 years ago. He had already had a similar business established and we rubbed off from that and he was the one who put up the money to get us up and running. My husband and I have done most of the work to make our new company what is today, which it is thriving very well. Here's my dilema...The person that we are in business with is very controling and states to us all the time that "he is the boss". He does have controlling shares but we are all in this together. I had a doctors appointment the other day and he was upset that I had to leave the office and told me that I should not feel that I can come and go as I please...excuse me but as part owner of the company I feel that if I want to go to an appt. or come in 15 minutes late I should not get my butt chewed out..he comes and goes as he pleases and some days does not come in at all and does not tell us where he is...I have discussed this with him but he says it ok for him! Advice?

I have been working for a company for about 3 months. When I was hired, I talked to my boss about the fact that I am a part time student, and that I have 2 semesters left before I graduate with my business degree. We talked about my scehdule specifically, and she agreed that it would not be a problem at all. (I know I should have gotten it in writing).
She has since been let go, and my new boss will not let me take my lunch break at the end of the day so that I can make it to class on time 2 days a week. I work an hour away from home and school. I would not be missing any work time, just taking a lunch break at the end of the day instead of in the middle. I have approached him a few times about it, and he absolutely will not budge. My degree is related to my work, and would be very beneficial to me in my job. I love my job a lot, but should I be looking elsewhere? Transferring schools is a pain, and Saturdays are not an option...

Have you ever felt as if some one thinks your weird? Although you are just simply being nice...
My boss's wife is a nice person to a certain extent, in a way I look up to her as a person I would like to be (character wise) in the future when I manage my own business. The thing is I get the impression that she thinks that I'm weird; either that or she thinks of herself too highly.
She is friends with almost every one in the office even to a personal level, and i'm really not trying to be her "friend" I just simply want to get along with her.
I notice that when she is around me she is a little fakey. I was told by my boss that it was his daughter's first B-day so I thought it would be nice to a congratulate her on her first year as a mother but when I called I noticed her being civil and not friendly. I have been with the company for 6 months, I'm not really a stranger and for sure I'm not persistant, Im not TRYING to be best friends.
