Is this okay and if so, what is the proper way to write such an email? I emailed this business my cover letter, resume and references for an open position on 9/19.

I work in a small family run business. I've advanced from the very bottom to as high as possible without being an owner. Since I am not related, advancement is no longer possible and I'm beginning to feel bored with my job. You know, same ole, same ole. I crave change and challenges which is why I think I've advanced so fast.

I recently (2 days ago) accepted a job offer with a company in Washinton, DC. I had heard positive things from a few people who have no direct connection with the firm.
Since that time, I've heard dozens of negative things about the corporate culture from employees and ex-employees. Things that confirm some red flags that I noted during my interview. I thought those red flags were just me being overly cautious, but now I think I ought to have trusted my gut.

How can I tactfully turn down the position, now that I've already accepted? Does this happen often, and it is a terrible faux pas?

Thanks very much.

I have been working at a job for a little over nine months. Since I have been here, I have noticed that the door is constantly swinging. I have been moved to differant positions since I have been here, and now all of a sudden they decided they were going to switch me again. Well since this has happend I have not done anything at my desk for a week now. Just asked if i will be trained in my new "so called" position and they said that everythingis on hold. I show up to work every day and i know that I am a hard worker. Opinion's do you think that I am going to get fired. And if so why is it they are not doing anything? Do you think that they are waiting for me to resigns so they don't pay unemployment? Need help please. looking for answers, I will be checking as I have nothing to do.

I have tried everything. I am on all the recruitment sites I have sent out my resume hundreds of times. I just feel so depressed, my school told us that we would get out and change the world and I can't even get a job in the career I went to school for. I still have to pay the bills for my expensive education so I work in retail but I absolutely hate it. I feel like all these highschool kids that I work with are just looking at me like 'didn't you go to college?' I just feel like I don't belong. But I have to pay the bills so here I am. Please tell me someone has some suggestions for me please. Extremely desperate.

Hi,

A friend of mine told me today that many English and American business people work in Holland without having any knowledge of the Dutch language (as they all speak and use English so well). So basically I was wondering if anyone knew whether the same thing was possible in Germany too in some cases - I'm thinking that it's not likely except possibly in Frankfurt which is where all Germany's international banks and finance centres are situated. Could anyone enlighten me?

Cheers

what do you do when you have reported a co-worker on numerous occasions about being messy and asked to move her or move yourself away from the situation and they never do anything about it. Is there some kind of law against them not doing anything, or is all up to the manager. Appreciate your answers

I've only been sacked once, and it was when I was 15 and worked in a Bargain Pound Store - I was in charge of the sweets section and at the end of the day the manager said it looked messy -and I had to laugh in his face because the whole shop was a complete tip anyway!!!!! He said "I'll let you know if I need you again", and I said "Should I not come in tomorrow then?" and he said "No".... then I rode my bike home all upset. I'm over it now though.

Have you ever been sacked with good reason?

There is a managerial distaste for this but I've seen it done w/o hassles once one is committed to the idea of it working and being a win-win situation rather thn apower/control issue...staff is more satisfied due to ability to plan and rather than rearrange everyone each time to fill "holes" you simply plug in the regulars in their places and then work on the holes(OT shifts/agency/prn's/volunteers) The difficulty of shortages is here, but why punish/alienate/drive away dedicated staff?
