Their house, their rules. That's not only an opinion, it is the essence of the law on such matters. Both the computer and the employee's time are the property of the employer, so the employer can set pretty much any rules it wants, so long as there is no race, gender, or age discrimination involved.

The porn prohibition, in fact, is probably intended to insulate the company from potential harassment complaints if a coworker sees your screen and is offended by it.

Whoa. You're lucky you weren't fired on the spot for porn. Don't try and force this issue and compare the two because you will lose big time. Even if he gets in trouble for allowing the gambling, you would be so screwed. Might as well just quit now or otherwise stop the porn and keep your mouth shut.

OK- YOU want to be allowed to look at porn during work hours!?? Are you a freaken moron?? EVERYONE work has laws about porn but not about gambling! Your employer is being nice by allowing gambling.
You could report it to the head of your work place but then you would ruin it for everyone and NO one will be allowed to do anything personal on the internet.
BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO LOOK AT PORN AT WORK.

Sexual Harrassment Lawsuits. If someone sees the porn at the worksite, they can file a claim against the company. Gambling is an individual offense where the company has little, if any liability.

No dollars, no attention.

Well, it's unethical to do either on work time. You should consider confronting the higher-ups in the company and just look into why the gambling part is allowed. I think you'll find that it's a anomally.

It sounds like you're here in Las Vegas! Find the employee handbook to find what policies are enforced because I believe each place of employment is different and then go from there.
