I agree with Henry Tee's answer - he's right on the money about the pay rate for small restaurants. A good chef employed by a larger restaurant or country club can make 45K+ a year. Also, in our area where we have a number of seasonal country clubs, ski resorts and vacation lodges, the employers also offer cost-free housing for chefs.
