I have worked with this jerk since I started in January and at first we had a good working relationship. He was nice to me and I told him things I shouldn't tell my boss, like the reason why I called in is because I didn't get the promotion I thought I deserved and I have an internet addiction. He is very pleasant while he screws me. Now I have caught on that he's not my friend and I treat him like he's my boss and I am actively looking for a new job. He knows this and we talked about this. I can't expect a good reference from him but I can use the HR department as reference for hire date. I heard that there's going to be reorganization and I might be getting a new supervisor anyway before I quit but either way we won't be working together much longer.

I want to end this relationship on as professional and on as positive a note as possible. What should I do or say to accomplish this? What should I never do or say to my new supervisor about my experience with this jerk?

Someone that I look up to told me that you should not base your career moves on "liking" the people you work with. He said they come and they go. What do you all think?

I work for an attorney and he’s a complete child, when he wants something he wants it now and won’t shut up until he gets it. I' am his personal assistant and I like what I do but I don’t think I can but up with someone who is constantly changing his mind and whining about everything.

i.e.

He wants something done but he hasn’t paid the bill and he refuses to pay it even though it is plain and clear that he owes the money. This is the same guy who puts a lean on client’s homes and then forecloses on them when they can’t pay his exaggerated bill.

Are you currently at work responding to the question (although there wasn't an initial question)? If you are at work responding, shouldn't you be working?

I'm a one-man marketing & design business and have decided to grow. Instead of recruiting someone full-time I'd like to employ someone on a placement basis whereby they gain work experience with the potential of a job if they prove themselves.

Does anyone have experience of recruiting in this way and what were the results?

I will soon join the workforce and was curious if you are still paid for sick days? I assume if you are paid salary then yes, but if you are hourly it may depend on the company.

I've been told my contract is up Sept 1, BUT there were no papers actually signed. I was looking for a new job anyway, and the prospects are looking REALLY good with several companies. Next week is my vacation time at my current job, and my car broke down so I worked from home (what I COULD anyway) yesterday and I'm working from home today. My supervisor is being a real jerk about it, and I don't know what to do. Should I just put in my two weeks now and get it over with since I'm so close to the "cut-off" time anyway???
