I've been told my contract is up Sept 1, BUT there were no papers actually signed. I was looking for a new job anyway, and the prospects are looking REALLY good with several companies. Next week is my vacation time at my current job, and my car broke down so I worked from home (what I COULD anyway) yesterday and I'm working from home today. My supervisor is being a real jerk about it, and I don't know what to do. Should I just put in my two weeks now and get it over with since I'm so close to the "cut-off" time anyway???

No, stick with the jerk and try to work from home if that is in the arrangement and fill out the contract. At least you can say you held up your end of the bargain. It does look better to prospective employers if you have a job when trying to find a new one.

I have been in a similar situation myself. When it comes down to the stress level, you need to ask yourself what you feel the best doing. If you are leaving anyway, and he is giving you that much hassle, then it might just be the best option to go ahead and head out 1 or 2 weeks early. But you might want to make sure you have a job secured at another place first so you don't find yourself in any kind of limbo. Bosses, I have noticed, tend to get really snippy when it comes to their employees leaving. You should do what you feel the most positive about, after all, it is your work environment.
Best of luck.

Put in your two weeks, if they are not going to renew your contract. Take your vacation and think about what you want to do. If you have insurance and benefits with this job I would stay if you are happy. Becuase it usually takes 90 days probationary period to be able to participate in those programs. If you are unhappy leave. Life is too short to be stuck in a dead end job.

Hang on until your contract is up!!! It is easier to get a new job when you are holding a current job. Don't quit!!
