I must be employable! What can a 42 year old employment seeker do with a resume that has his most recent former employer dating back some 18 years ago? All I ever get is "Thanks for applying, good luck with your job search". I've been spoiled by a lazy disposition and parentage that enabled that lifestyle. Now I must be self sustaining but no one seems to be willing to hire me! I feel that I must be able to contribute some where, please help...

I had a difference of opinion with an ops manager today and ended up giving in my resignation and walking out of a £25000 job.
I live on my own, have many debts and don't know what to do now. However, I took a lot of undeserved criticism and feel I did the right thing.
I'm very angry as I've worked there for 11 years and gave 110%. Guess I better start job hunting!

If I remember right isn't it against the law to give out personal information to a future employer by your present employer? The only questions that can be asked is
What date you were hired
Would you rehire them
and Were they terminated?

Am I right in this?

I applied to Mckinsey's for a business analyst position, as a graduate, that I really liked about a month ago. I was then sent a reply asking why I left my previous employer to study towards an MSc this year on the 19th of July which I replied to the next day.

So its now the 28th and I've not heard back, how long do I wait before I try to get in touch with them? Like the job but I've got other offers and can't keep them waiting too long! I don't even know if I'll be invited to interview yet.

I am not happy working my current job in a factory. I would love some ideas for different types of jobs that would make use of my current skills and education. Please pass along any resources you might have in relation to these jobs. I have worked as a cashier, customer service rep, wood worker and hotel desk clerk. I have a Supervisory Mangement Certificate and have taken some computer and accounting courses. I have also raised animals all my life and worked on a dairy farm. I also enjoy four wheeling, snowblading and generally being outdoors. Maybe there is a job that allows me to four wheel all the time haha!
Thank you!
