I work at Hollister. I know you have to be at least 17 to even apply and you have to "have the Hollister look." Basically, just show up to the interview wearing some Hollister clothes, be outgoing and perky and you got the job. Some people argue that appearance plays a role as well. I'll agree that most of the employees at the Hollisters I've been to are above average when it comes to looks.

You're on your feet all day. AND you're wearing flip-flops, so that adds to the pain.

The same songs are played over and over again, so it gets old fast. And it's not like you can lower the volume if you have a headache/hangover.

All the size stickers and clothing stacks have to be PERFECT. If not, you have to re-fold the whole pile. It's very detailed.

Customers can be very rude. You get yelled at for not accepting washed clothes that they are trying to return. They yell because we can't hold clothes for them at the register. They get mad because it's too loud/dark in there or because we don't carry their size. (HELLO, WE'RE TARGETING 14-18 YEAR OLD TEENAGERS!! NOT 26 YEAR OLDS!)

Opening sucks, in my opinion. You have to vaccum the rugs, wash windows and mirrors and dust shelves at like 8am.

It's fun though because my co-workers make it fun. And some customers are actually friendly and talkative, which makes my shift go by so much faster.

Some days it's really slow, and some days there are so many customers. It's like they all stand outside, wait for each other and when there's enough of them, they rush the store, tearing apart stacks and touching everything in sight.

Of course the pay is gonna suck. But the whole point of working at Hollister is just to be able to say "Yeah, I work at Hollister.." and get all the "wow" reactions from people. (I get paid CA minimum wage $6.75) And most of your paycheck is going to spent on their clothing because although they say that they can't force us to wear Hollister, they prefer that we do. At least we get a 20% discount.

I like my job. I'm not working crazy hours or stressing. It's not challenging, but hey, it's a job.
