I read an answer to a "most effective job search strategies?" question here in yahoo answers and one person's response said the most type should be spent in Networking and Cold calling companies. Ok, but what if you're a shy, no friends, no references, non-existent type of guy? And two, how do you call companies and ask for employment.. or how do you go to companies in person and ask for employment?

all i've done so far is internet ( monster.com, indeed.com, etc) searches andi'm failing badly at that cause most jobs there need experience. 3 months already and i don't find a job, i'm feeling like a piece of you know what.

I'm not outgoing, 26m. But i get the job done. In all the places i've worked at, everyone is outgoing except me. But i always do the job, so what they b**ing about so much? Sure, the jobs where i've gone are clerical type of jobs but even in say an Office Assistant/Administrative Assistant type of job, why do i need to be outgoing? If i can do the job and speak at times when i need to, isn't that enough. I hated in my past jobs, they all looked at me like a dumb ***, just because i didn't talk much.

I've gotten a new job and find that I'm not happy at work. I find that the job does not give me the room for me to maximise my potential. Furthermore, I find the job as boring and very routine. I'm not belittling the job per se, but i don't feel satisfied at this job. There are many times when I feel like joining the teaching profession and make a difference in someone else's life.

Should I quit my job and pursue my ambition? Or should I continue with my current job?

I seriously need your advice. Thanks in advance.

I have been searching for a job ever since I was 16 (before that I was too young to find work except around my house), and nobody has hired me at all. I'm 19 years old and I still don't have a job. According to my parents, I hand in my applications late (it's due to me still being in school, and I can't drop out because my parents won't let me), and no matter how hard I try to put my applications in either on time or late, nobody will hire me. So, I checked out the want ads from the newspaper, and I've noticed that every job listing requires you to have a driver's license. Do most jobs out there hire people who have drivers licenses?

I found my dream job. I sent my cv to an employment agency and they matched it up with a job vacancy for a company that I would love to work for. The angeny staff said that I have all the right qualifications and said they would pass on my cv to that company asap. The only thing is that i am abroad now, and wont be able to sart until 2 weeks. The employment agency know that and said that the company might wait for me. Should I ring the company DIRECTLY to show them how keen and enthusiastic I am about the job, or wait for them to get in touch with me?

Years ago, I decided to enter into the field of engineering, as I found that designing weapons was of interest to me. Indeed, I seemed to have the knack to visualize weapons conceptions, as if it were an art. Yet prior to graduation, I had an epiphany in that I did not want to design weapons that could potentially be used against civilians. As a result, I chose to use my engineering skills elsewhere.

Here it is, years later, and I'm finding that I might be interested in going into the field that I originally abandoned. Part of my inspiration is the arms race that is going on throughout the world, as other countries are arming themselves in what appears to be an eventual confrontation with the US. As a result, I feel the need to help the US develop countermeasures that will help us retain our superiority. My current concept of weapons would only be of use against military targets.

This is a question of ethics, and I would appreciate your input.
